St Mary's London Talks

This Sunday, we heard from three different members of our congregation who shared their stories with us.

This week John starts the Life course with a talk around what makes us happy and ends with the question, what do you think about the life long quest to find purpose, significance and love?

This week, as part of our Seek First the Kingdom series, Matt looks at the geography of Jesus' ministry and how counter-cultural and offensive this would have been to people at the time.

This week, John gives us an introduction to our Pop Up Dinners and what you and your friends can expect on Wednesday and Friday. He talks about how it's so much easier to be evangelistic when we're feeling passionate about our faith, and the importance of returning to this place often to be refilled and refuelled.

Are sheep really as stupid as they seem? This week Kirstine talks to us about the advantages of being a part of a flock and why we should go out and invite people to join us.

This week, Matt introduces us to why Jesus used parables so much in his teaching and how they can help us understand the Kingdom of God better.

Kristin introduces us to our new series called Seek First by looking into what Jesus actually meant when he spoke about the Kingdom.

Andy talks to us about the Kingdom Jesus speaks about in the New Testament. She looks at how it may differ from the connotations we may associate with it today, and what happens when we partner with God to seek his Kingdom first.

This week, John finishes our series on Emotionally Healthy Spirituality (EHS). Drawing from his own personal experiences of losing loved ones, John explores EHS in grieving and offers insights and practical advice on how we can better support those who are grieving.

Aileen continues our series on Emotionally Healthy Spirituality by looking at how we can know and accept our authentic self.

At our evening service, Matt looks at whether our society, families or churches have stopped us from experiencing all of our emotions and what the Psalmist can teach us about how to feel everything and bring that to God.

This Sunday we can a very special visit from Paul in his Roman prison! Join us as Paul (AKA Matt), wraps up our series on Colossians with this POV sketch of chapter 4.

Sirine looks at the two paths that are available to us - the path leading us closer to God and the path that takes us away. She talks through how we can try and stay near to God, and God's gift of forgiveness to us if we walk the other way.

Bola looks at Colossians 3 and the radical new identity that Jesus had given to his followers. She also looks at the slightly trickier passages around obedience and submission and what these mean for us.

This week Matt sees at what Proverbs has to say about friendship and looks at the story of David and Jonathan as an example of great friendship.

Kirstine looks at chapter 2 of Colossians and how Paul addresses the cultural pressures that those in the church of Colossi faced and what pressures may be keeping us from living in the full light of Jesus' resurrection today.

Bola continues our series on Proverbs looking a work. Is it different to our jobs?
