In this video, the supreme mother talks about the results that one can get after doing the 7 days Parayanam of "Devi Mahatmyam". (12th Chapter). In the last chapter (13th), it describes how King Suratha & Merchant Samadhi on following the instructions to worship Mother are blessed with bountiful boons.

The story continues in which Devi, Goddess Kali and a group of Matrikas destroy the demonic brothers Shumbha (chapter 10) and Nishumbha (chapter 9). In the final battle against Shumbha, Devi absorbs Mother Kali and the Matrikas and stands alone for the final battle.

In this chapter, we find the Devas praising and praying to the Mother Goddess for having vanquished all the evil asuras and in turn, the Mother Goddess blesses them with boons.

These chapters depict Devi in Her form of Mahasaraswati. She is portrayed as arising from the cells or koshas of Devi Saraswati and hence she is named as Devi Kaushiki. Goddess Kali may be understood to represent the aspect of the darker, chthonic and transformative qualities of Devi's power or Shakti.
