In 2015, President Higgins became Patron of “Yeats 2015”, a yearlong festival marking the 150th anniversary of the birth of the Nobel Prize winning poet. President Higgins addressed a gathering in Sligo, the spiritual home of W.B. Yeats, organised to mark the 150th anniversary of the poet's birthday.
