If we believe in Jesus and belong to Jesus then we should behave like Jesus.

This small group of insignificant, uneducated, vulnerable and insecure people, an obscure sect in the Roman Empire became a powerful force in the world that still exists today - The Church! The work of The Holy Spirit in spreading the Kingdom of God.

The church is a vehicle to send people to the neighbors and the nations. We have a global mandate.

How do we know the resurrection is real? Just how significant is it really? If we know the resurrection, we must share the resurrection.

The cross means death. Why did Jesus have to die? The cross is where the justice of God intersects with the love of God.

The main message of Jesus is the kingdom of God which includes grace, mercy, and love. How does the kingdom of God relate to the suffering of Jesus? The King had to suffer.

A miracle in the Scriptures is an unmistakable, supernatural event accomplished by God for a divine purpose. Miracles point us to God’s message.

We know a Messiah is coming, and he does in the New Testament. As we close the Old Testament and enter the New, the Storyteller enters the story as a human baby, named Jesus. Good News, the Kingdom is near: He is the rescuer, reconciler and redeemer of anyone who will, not just Israelites. The invisible God made visible in human flesh.

God works through Nehemiah to finish the reconstruction of Jerusalem after Exile, but it becomes clear that someone greater than Nehemiah is needed as the people turn back to sin.

God calls us outward toward our neighbors, yet our own selfishness pushes us inward back towards ourselves. God’s mission and message applies to everyone in spiritual darkness. Jonah is a prophet, but in this story he is no hero. The story has no ending, which points to the readers: “What will we do to complete it?”

What is a godly man? We see in Job how a man is able to work through suffering as a man of God. He was honest, honorable, a man of integrity and people wanted to hear his advise. How is it God rewarded him with suffering? Through Job we learn how suffering draws us near to God. Job’s story reveals how Satan was defeated through suffering.

In the world but not of the world. Daniel shows us what it looks like to cling to nothing but God himself. He is surrounded by corrupt people and a corrupt government, but he lives righteously, with integrity.

Jeremiah was given a difficult task, and the problem was nobody listened. God brings a case against his people: they had turned their backs on him, and turned to idols. The attraction was strong and took them to some dark places. You may not always understand God, but you can always trust God. God sometimes calls people out of obscurity. Grace is found in the stillness of God’s voice. How can we listen to God in all the commotion? Our lives are to reflect the image of God, and that requires both men and women. We tend to greatly underestimate the presence, purpose and significance of women in the Scriptures. So, a look at Queen Vashti, an often underestimated character in Scripture, who displays integrity and perseverance. Proverbs is how to apply God’s wisdom to everyday life. It helps set the right pattern of choices in life. The purpose of the book is to teach wisdom. It reveals the foundation of wisdom as The Fear of The Lord. God’s wisdom is something we should all want, and it ultimately embraces the foolishness of the cross.
