This week marked our first look at our four parish values: confident in Jesus. Dave took us from Psalms to Philippians to help us see what confidence in Jesus is, and isn't, and to show us that God wants us to be confident in the sufficient work of Christ on the cross.

If we truly are going to be a parish that follows Jesus, then we need to be committed to being like him. Our values as a parish are derived directly from the character of Jesus. Listen to Stephen as he shares why this is exciting and important for all of our churches as we live and share the good news of Jesus.

For the last sermon in the series of following the Israelites as God's people, Dave showed us how the same God who led them is the same God that can lead us. Once Israel are freed from slavery in Egypt they are free to follow and worship God as their leader. But whilst many of their threats are behind, the threat of their own sinful heart has travelled with them. Dave teaches from Exodus 13-33 about how the law reveals a depth of sin that only a truly divine Saviour can rescue us from.

Exodus 2-12 is the arm wrestle between Pharaoh and God. The Egyptians followed Pharaoh, and the Israelites followed God, and the results couldn't be more different. In Dave's sermon he asked the question "Who are God's people today?" and helped us think about what it looks like to be God's people and follow him in our day.

As we begin our next short teaching series, Stephen opens up Exodus and gives us the background on how Israel ended up being trapped in their temporary home of Egypt. Whilst Pharoah was growing paranoid over the growing number of Israelites, God was raising up a leader who would lead them to safety.

From prostitute to princess, Rahab's life serves as an example of what God can do with a life fully surrendered to him. Without knowing what God with do with her life, she knew enough about his power and goodness to follow him by faith. Before Dave preached on Rahab, Hannah interviewed him about how God has been, and still is, transforming him.

It's hard to think of someone who has undergone a more obvious transformation by God than the man we now call the Apostle Paul. From dragging Christians into jail to becoming a Christian and spending significant time in jail himself. God's transformation of us isn't always what we'd expect. In the life of Solomon, his transformation was to find God outside of his affluence and power, not through it. This sermon recording from the Southern Beaches includes an interview with Andrew about how he has experienced, and is still experiencing, God's transformation in his life.

As Souther Beaches kicked-off the new year with a new teaching series, 'We All Are Being Transformed', we heard from Steve Davis about how God has been at work transforming his life. Then, Dave preached on the life and transformation of Mary Magdalene, from demon-possessed to one of the most trusted and loyal of Jesus' disciples.

On Sunday, Dave encouraged us to embrace the unbelievable parts of our faith, even if it means looking weird to others. Matthew 1:18-25 shows us that Joseph, Jesus' earthly Dad, embraced the unbelievable. And, of course, no one lived out their unbelivable story more than Jesus himself, as the Son of God came as a baby!

For the Third Sunday of Advent, Dave preached at Southern Beaches about the importance of waiting well. From the parables of Matthew 25, Jesus instructs the Christian to live in the tension of present action and future anticipation, whilst avoiding the pitfalls of passivity and busyness.

On the Third Sunday of Advent, Stephen preached in Sorell from Luke 3:7-18 about how Jesus is the answer for anyone and everyone, from the greatest to the least.

This week Stephen Savage brings us the sermon on repentance from Psalm 32, Isaiah 11:1-10 and Matthew 3:1-12.

For the first week of the season of Advent, Stephen preached from Matthew 24 about how the lives Jesus' followers should be marked by hopeful expectation of his coming again.

"Who am I?" This is a question that is being asked by much of our society currently. Last week, Dave showed us from various parts of the Old and New Testaments that it is also a question that God desperately wants to help us answer.

This week at Sorell, Dave preached from Matthew 6 where Jesus tells his followers that they can live a life free of financial worry, and it's not because they save a magic worry-free amount of money. Rather, Christians can be worry free because God sees, knows, cares, and provides.

Stephen Savage preaches from Sorell this week, reminding us that the Church is to be people who know Jesus and what he has done for us. When the Church understands Jesus, we won't be able to help but to be passionate for him and his mission.
