Something Worth Thinking About with Randy Todd
Something Worth Thinking About is a podcast by Randy Todd that aims to distract its listeners from thinking about the trivial matters of life in order to pull them into something worth thinking about–specifically, something from the Word of God. In the spirit of Philippians 4:8-9 each episode shares a short reading from Scripture and a few words from Randy to encourage the listener both to think more deeply about life in Christ and to find ways to put Christ's life-giving teachings into practice in our daily lives. It is more than power of positive thinking, it is the power of Gospel thinking.

If There Is No Resurrection, Christians Are To Be Pitied More Than Anyone Else 11.05.2021 9:14
In today’s episode we want to keep thinking about everything the Apostle Paul said about resurrection in 1 Corinthians 15. Specifically, we want to hear what Paul said about Christians and the Christian faith, if there is no resurrection. He does not pull any punches. He says that if there is no resurrection, then Christians are to be pitied more than anyone else. For Paul, the resurrection of Jes...
We Need To Live Like We Believe In Resurrection 05.05.2021 11:06
In today’s episode we want to explore what might be surprising, if you do not already know this. There are people living in the world today who identify themselves as Christian, but they deny that Jesus of Nazareth has been raised from the dead. This is not, however, a new thing. During the days of the Apostles of Christ, there was at least one church where some of the members, people who identifi...
Are You a Follower of Christ That Can Be Counted On? 04.05.2021 8:04
In today’s episode we want to consider the discrepancy between the number of followers of Jesus in Paul's report in 1 Corinthians 15 versus the number in Luke's report in Acts 1. If Jesus appeared to over 500 of the disciples after his resurrection, how come there are only 120 gathered together in Jerusalem as they waited for the Lord to send power from on high?

And Paul prayed that our eyes will be enlightened and opened to this incredible reality!...
Remember Jesus Christ, Raised From The Dead 26.04.2021 9:58
In today’s episode we want to consider one of the trustworthy sayings that the Apostle Paul gave to God’s people long ago. I’m not sure it is as familiar to us as it ought to be, but I am confident that we will fully resonate with it’s truth. If we will take it to heart, it should inspire us to live for Jesus every day. After all, it all begins with this admonition, “Remember Jesus Christ, raised...
The Prayer Jesus Prayed Before Going to the Garden 22.04.2021 8:03
In today’s episode we will hear another ancient prayer of confidence and hope. Today we will hear the prayer Jesus prayed about himself before he went to the garden of Gethsemane. The tone of this prayer is strikingly different from the prayer in the Garden. We are more familiar with the prayer in the Garden. We need to hear and consider this prayer too..
Romans 1:1-4 — When Things Are More Than They Seem 19.04.2021 6:16

When Jesus Prayed, "Father, Protect Them from the Evil One" 14.04.2021 8:30
In today's episode we want to go to the upper room with Jesus to listen and reflect on the prayer he prayed for God's people long ago. He was praying specifically for the Eleven disciples who remained in the room with them, but the need for God's protection from the evil one expands to include all of us. We should take this prayer to heart and pray this same prayer today, both for o...
When Peter Asked Jesus, "What about Him?" 13.04.2021 7:14
In today’s episode we will think about the moment when Jesus told Peter that he would glorify God by his death. Instead of being encouraged and energized by this hope for redemption, Peter looked at John and then said to Jesus, “What about him?” Why did Peter do this? Why do we do this? And what would Jesus say to us that he said to Peter long ago?
When Jesus Reaffirmed Peter's Call to Serve the Lord 12.04.2021 11:14

Why Was The Apostle Paul Accused of Being Insane? 10.04.2021 7:44
In today’s episode we want to hear another example of how people who lived in the days of Jesus struggled to believe the Good News that Jesus has been raised from the dead. Believing something so incredible is not just a modern challenge. It has always been a challenge. And it always will be. This is what we want to think and reflect about today.
Stop Doubting & Believe: When Thomas Finally Saw The Risen Lord 08.04.2021 7:39
When Thomas Finally Saw The Risen Lord In today’s episode we want to be in the room with Jesus and Thomas when Thomas finally gets to see the risen Lord. It must have been a special moment for Thomas. He was the last of the Eleven to see Jesus after the resurrection. His story is important for us because we too at times can wrestle with doubts about the good things we have heard about Jesus. We to...

In today’s Wednesday episode we want to reflect and think about a courageous prayer of faith that is found in Scripture. Today’s prayer is one of the prayers of Christ. It is believed to be the first words that Jesus spoke from the cross. “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.”
Even The Apostles Initially Doubted the Resurrection Stories of Jesus 06.04.2021 9:08
In today’s episode we want to explore a curious phenomenon. The Apostles of Jesus doubted their eyes and their ears when they first heard the resurrection stories of Jesus! Even though they had walked with Jesus and seen all kinds of things that no doubt would make the hairs stand up on the back of your neck, they balked when the women came back from the empty tomb to report to them what the angel...
Two Competing Stories To Explain The Empty Tomb of Jesus 05.04.2021 10:45
In today’s episode we want to go with the women early in the morning to the now empty tomb of Christ Jesus our Lord. The women returned from the tomb with one story, and the solders who had been guarding the tomb returned with a different story. Guess what? The same thing is happening today! The church and everyone alive today who believes Jesus is Lord says, “Christ has risen just as he said!” Ev...
What Jesus Said While Dying on the Cross 02.04.2021 5:02
Today is the day that Jesus was crucified long ago. It was a dark, sad, confusing, and scary day. If people and the powers that be will do this to the Son of God, what hope is there for any of us? But Sunday is coming and hope will be restored. In today's podcast we simply want to hear what Jesus had to say as he was dying on the cross. What were his last words? Let's hear them, reflect...
Peter Denied Knowing Jesus - We Do Too 01.04.2021 8:31
In today's episode of Something Worth Thinking About we will consider the time when Peter denied knowing Jesus almost immediately after pledging his willingness to die with Jesus. We want to think about how this story encourages us to keep seeking and serving the Lord, even when we, like Peter, have failed to honor our pledges of loyalty to Jesus, even when we too have denied Jesus by our act...

Episode 27 of Something Worth Thinking About. In today’s episode we want to look at this moment in the life of Jesus that we find Jesus doing something that feels so different from what we typically expect when we think about Jesus. Jesus made a whip, went into the Temple courtyard, tossed over tables, drove out animals, and made a scene! It seems safe to say that Jesus was angry! What on earth?!...

Who Do You Say Jesus Is? 25.03.2021 8:52
Episode 24 of Something Worth Thinking About. Today marks the beginning of a new emphasis in our time together each day in the Word of God. This is the season of Passover, so this is the time of year that almost 2,000 years ago Jesus went to Jerusalem, celebrated the Passover with his disciples, and was crucified at Calvary, buried in a tomb and raised back to life on the third day. For the next f...
The Parable of the Wise Man and the Foolish Man Who Both Built a House 22.03.2021 6:30
Episode 23 of Something Worth Thinking About. In today's episode we finish our look at the Sermon on the Mount. Jesus wraps it all up by telling a simple parable about a wise man and a foolish man. He then compares this to what we do with his teachings. Do we hear them and do nothing in response to his teachings? Or, do we hear his teachings and put them into practice? One of these is like th...
