Small Talk

The parable of the persistent widow branches off from some of the normal patterns found in Jesus' parables. Much can be gleaned from this parable, such as learning more about God's character, our faithfulness, and what our prayer lives should look like. We also answer two questions submitted by a listener! 

This week we sit down with one of Wallula's small group leaders, Thomas Kane, to discuss the story of the prodigal son. This story helps us to better understand who God is, His love for us, and how we should respond when someone enters into His family. 

Zach, Craig, and Lance discuss the interaction between Jesus, Simon the Pharisee, and the sinful woman at the dinner party scene in Luke 7. A closer look is given to what our response to God's forgiveness should look like. And we answer our first question submitted by a listener!

This week we welcome Kasey Robinson, lead pastor at Westside Family Church Leavenworth. We spend some time pulling out the teaching points of Jesus' Good Samaritan parable and what we can do to apply it and take action. 

Craig, Zach, and Lance talk about Acts 6 and the example it shows us for service, prayer, and the mission of God. 

Lance, Craig, and Zach discuss the second half of Hebrews 3 where the author gives a model of how Christians should exhort one another. This is something we should do daily within a community of believers. We also consider the Exodus account and how it can shape our lives today. 

Lance, Craig, and Zach discuss the beginning of Hebrews 3 where the author mentions the "holy brothers who share in a heavenly calling", as well as the end of verse 6 when a conditional statement is given about being confident and boastful of our hope through Jesus. 

Lance, Craig, and Zach discuss the different names of Jesus given in Hebrews 2:10 and how it shapes our understanding of who he is. They also consider how Jesus is the perfect example of how to remain faithful to God through temptation while also leaning on him for help. 

Small Talk is back with Wallula's new study on Hebrews! Lance, Craig, and Zach discuss the signs of drifting away from the gospel and things we can do to stay on course each day. They also discuss why Christians are able to look to Jesus for comfort when trials and suffering come. 

The event between the angel and Mary is something we read every year around Christmas. On this episode, Lance, Craig, and Zach stop to consider how Mary reacted to the shocking news and how it might parallel events and reactions in our own lives. 

Lance, Craig, and Zach discuss what it means to fear God and how fearing God can shape our prayers. We also look at the story of Zechariah. Just as Zechariah faced obstacles in life, we experience various trials and obstacles that shape and form us.

Lance, Zach, and Craig sit down with Tony Majors to discuss United As One and how it all began, as well as church unity, and how we can live out the message of Ephesians 4:1-6. 

Revelation 22 leaves us wondering: now what? Lance, Craig, and Zach talk about living in response to the message that Jesus will return soon and how we can "keep the words" found in Revelation. 

Lance, Craig, and Zach talk about Revelation 21 and some of the details that are provided about what heaven will be like. Thinking about eternity should fill us with hope and anticipation, but also shape how we live out our lives today. 

When it comes to Heaven and what is described in Revelation 21, there is much to look forward to! We must also consider what it means to be heavenly-minded now as we anticipate the day when all things are made new. 

Revelation 20 is known to be one of the most difficult chapters in the Bible. The difficulty comes from how one is to interpret the 1000 year reign of Christ. Lance, Craig, and Zach discuss the millennium, as well as what we look forward to when thinking about the coming day of the Lord. 

Revelation 19 contains another story of evil being defeated and Christ being victorious. Christ is also depicted as being united with his bride. Zach, Craig, and Lance talk about what it means to live in anticipation of the wedding feast in heaven and how we need to be on guard for finding ourselves "almost" worshiping God like John did in verse 10. 

Christians have to make a choice on whether or not to marvel and give attention to evil in the world. Revelation 17 & 18 tells us that evil will eventually be conquered by God. Lance, Craig, and Zach discuss practical ways we can keep our attention fixed on Jesus as we follow him into eternity. 

Craig, Zach, and Lance discuss the final acts of judgment in Revelation 16 and why it can be difficult to come to terms with God's wrath. They also take a look at the big picture of Revelation and what encouragement has been provided by studying this book. 

Revelation 14 contains a lot of descriptions, imagery and symbolism. This week Lance, Craig, and Zach talk about the 144,000, God's judgment, and the promise given to those that follow Jesus into eternity. 

Craig, Zach, and Lance discuss the two beasts found in Revelation 13, what they represent, and what it looks like to continue following Jesus into eternity. Towards the end of the episode, there is also a quick discussion on the mark of the beast. 

Zach, Craig, and Lance discuss the three characters in Revelation 12 - the woman, her offspring, and the dragon. This passage gives an account of what has taken place, but also gives insight into what it's like living as a member of God's family. 

Revelation 11 can be a difficult chapter to understand and take in. Craig, Zach, and Lance talk about some of the topics and take aways from this passage, including the idea of a rapture, as well as the example set by the two witnesses and the reward given to them in eternity. 

Revelation 10 features a unique event where part of God's plan is hidden and kept secret. This week on Small Talk, Zach, Craig, and Lance talk about resting in this mystery, rejoicing in what we do know from God's Word, and what is now expected from us as believers.

Zach, Craig, and Lance discuss the 7 trumpets in Revelation 8 & 9 while focusing on God's judgment, reacting to this judgment, and what it means to repent as we anticipate the Day of the Lord.
