Joseph was put in a position where he had to trust in the face of a scandal. He had to trust what the angel told and what God was promising him with regards to Mary and the birth of Jesus. Socially, he had every right to terminate their marriage but he held fast to the promises of God in the midst of such a turbulent time - we can learn so much from the obedient of Joseph!

The Christmas story is a scandalous one as we will see throughout the month. This morning we look at the scandalous pregnancy of Mary's and the implications it had.

Forgiveness is an often overlooked portion of our prayer life - it's not fun or easy to look at our shortcomings. That being said, we need to work through our own areas of sin and to walk through forgiveness with our Heavenly Father if we ever hope to walk through the same situation with our relationships here on earth. This morning we are challenged in the area of forgiveness!

As we continue our way through the Lord's Prayer, we start with looking at the daily bread we see in Matthew. While our minds go to an element of physical nourishment, it's so much more than that. We will be challenged through Scripture to look at what our Heavenly Father sees as our needs and how He feels on our behalf as we ask for Him to meet those very needs.

Sometimes prayer can feel a little overwhelming to develop in our lives. The beauty of prayer is that it's simply a conversation with God. Throughout the month of October we will be looking at the The Lord's Prayer as blueprint for our prayer lives!

Love is the greatest because through love we experience victory! The nature of love is victorious at all times and the example of Jesus' love for us is the perfect picture of that victory!

Forgiveness is perhaps one of the most difficult actions of love that we can walk through as Christ followers. It can be painful, unfair and challenging but when we follow in the footsteps of forgiveness that Christ modeled for us we will experience an incredible freedom from situations that once held us hostage.

Humility is one of the greatest attributes of love. When put into practice, humility allows us to love others all while taking our pride out of the picture. Throughout His life, Jesus modeled loving everyone through humility, even as the Son of God!

Love can often be thought of as a sensitive or weak feeling and emotion, but really love is the greatest motivator, most fought for thing ever and something we all crave as people! Throughout the month we will look at why the commandment we have to love is the greatest!

Our families are our biggest responsibilities outside of our relationship with God. The real question is how do we actively and Biblically lead and minister to our family on a daily basis? This morning we're encouraged to do just that!

The ministry God has called us to doesn't stop at the doors when we leave the church but it continues with us! In fact, our calling to minister in our workplace is one of the greatest callings we have! God has specifically positioned us to love on, encourage and share His Gospel with those in our lives, even with the ones we have no choice but be with each day. If we're called to ministe...

As we look at the fact that we are in fact Called to Minister, this morning we look at the role we have to our communities! God has placed us, specifically, where He plans to use us, we just have to answer the call!

We have all been called by God to be involved in His desire to reach our world with the hope of Jesus! The church doesn't exist to be a spiritual checkmark on our to-do list, but instead exists to make an impact in our world and community! If we're going to be effective for Jesus, we have to realize we have responsibilities to be involved in ministry, even within our own church!

As we seek to be approved by God we have to be willing to give Him every aspect of who we are, the good, the bad and the ugly. As we give him everything, He uses it all for His glory. As we look at the story of Abraham, we see he did this very thing and God used him as a result of it!

Joseph was tested and approved all throughout his entire life - he could have been tempted to throw in the towel and give up on God's plan as it seemed to get him into trouble, but he would have missed out on the ultimate plan for his life! We learned from the life of Joseph that what the enemy means to harm us, God intends for good! We just have to stick it out and trust that God's plan...

Often times approval happens after a time that we would describe as one of testing. When we are stretched or tested, it shows where we stand with God and whether or not we are worthy of being stamped as approved by Him. Here's the great part though - it's only through the work of our Heavenly Father that we can overcome the tests we experience in life!

Even though Jesus is the Son of God, His approval by God came through His obedience to His Father! Unfortunately for Jesus, His obedience came through suffering, but fortunately for us through His obedience we are forgiven!

Tests are no fun, whether in school or in life. However, on the other end of that test you get results. Pass or fail we can grow from testing in our lives and ultimately we are looking for God to stamp us as "Approved"!

If we're looking at the Biblical significance of Israel, we can't ignore what Scripture says about the future of the nation of Israel and why that's important for us as Christ followers.

Our heritage is important to us - it influences who we are and what is important to us! This morning we get into the why the heritage of Jesus is so important to who He is as the Messiah and the Son of God!

One of the more intimidating parts of being a Christian can be the thought of sharing your faith with others. While a little scary at times, God has given us the tools we need to share what He is doing in our lives with others. Today we are encouraged through Scripture to do just that!

It's amazing to see the shape the call of God takes in our lives and ultimately where and when it leads us. Today we pray you are encouraged to see what God is doing in the lives of people all around and how we can be involved in that process as a church!
