Silent Time

It is good to be praised by others. But it is not good to praise oneself, to be proud. What do you aim at, in that regard?

Nobody is perfect. And nobody is 100% evil. We are all human. Everybody has strengths and everybody has weaknesses. Which of the factors counts in the end?

A free wish … how we long for such a thing: anything we could ask for and it would come true. What would you wish for, if you had such a free wish without limits?

We all get in conversations with other people. We talk to family members, colleagues, neighbors and so forth. Hopefully in such conversations, there is more than 1 topic. And hopefully not only 1 person is speaking, a good conversation includes speaking and listening. That is not only the case, when we talk with other people.

What are your biggest worries these days? About loosing the job? Or by contrast, about having too much work? Worrying about health issues? Or about persecution? Or other topics? In this world, we have lots of worries and trouble. What do you do with worries and trouble? There is a reason to take courage, that not only touches on the surface.

Do you guard your steps? If so, in which regards? It can help to show us what is really important to us, deep down in our minds.

Do you value friendships? A wise old man gave a valuable demonstration, from which we can learn a great lesson.

Facing reality, at times in life various kinds of sacrifices are required from us, whether small acts of kindness or really giving up something valuable, depending on life’s circumstances, in order to help others. Let’s remember the most valuable sacrifice.

Words … we all use many words every day. Praise the Lord if you can communicate well, give thanks for functioning ears, eyes, tongue etc. Every word spoken also resembles a seed that is planted, having effects onto the future.

We can learn a lot from the sportspeople, such as athletes during the competition games. For example the runners: they fully focus on the goal. They do not think about other things in that moment. On what do you focus?

There are many reasons to complain about. Do you also tend to complain? About the circumstances? About the church? About the shortcomings of other Christians? There are more important things to focus on.

The path into the future holds many uncertainties. What will happen? What will be? It is good to have someone to guide us. To whom do we listen? Many people offer to guide us. They want us to go their ways. But do they know what they talk about? Is it true and useful what they tell us? Better to have a reliable source.

Is it possible to be too young or too old for the ministry of God? Or course, different tasks require different skills. We have limited possibilities, but God has unending resources. In the end the question is not about age.

The animals in der wilderness have different strategies of hunting. Some may chase their prey. Others will hide first in order not to be noticed, waiting until the prey animal shows signs of weakness. We as humans, are also under attack in various ways. It may nowadays no more be by wild animals, but the thread remains in other ways.

By the time of his birth … and still today it is the same: People do not want to give any major room to Jesus. How much room do you give to him in your life?

What is the greatest name for you? In our times or from past times. Great politicians, who have accomplished a lot, become famous. Scientists, philosophers … famous for what they have said or done. Yet, there is a much greater name.

When have you last lost anything? Could not find it? Taken great effort, looking for it everywhere, but could not find it? And finally, with great joy, it is found back. Whom do you know perfectly? Many people assume they know each and everything about someone, e.g. about their spouse. Any yet we never know anybody fully 100%. Getting to know each other continues lifelong. In the same way, many people assume that they know everything about God. But it is a living relationship to the almighty Lord, lifelong. His dimensions are far beyond what we can imagine.

For most of us, nowadays’ lifestyle is pretty much different from what it was several generations ago. There are new inventions, there is new technology, new life-styles. Yet, some things do not change. It is amazing how much we can learn from history and past generations.  

... and who cares for me? Have you been asking this question repeatedly? Many of us easily have an attitude of expecting others to take care of us. As tough as it may sound, we are primarily called to do, what we can do. Yet, there is also good news of comfort.

Whom would you like to join? What group of people? Would you like to join the celebrities? Or the rich? The millionaires and billionaires? Or the sport stars? Those who have extraordinary gifts? It appears so attractive to be among such kinds of groups of people. Eventually it will turn out to be most attractive to be among the group of people with another common feature.

Have you ever been in situations, where you had to cry for help? All of us may have been in that situation as newborns and babies. Praise the Lord, if you have not been in a situation as a grown-up in which you needed to cry for help. Whether there are such difficult days in your life or not, in any case involve the Lord. He listens. He knows what we ask for. He also knows what is best for us. As...

Where is God? Far away in space? – That is what many people assume “a higher being”. But in fact God is not far away. He is as close to us as the air that surrounds us, even closer. He is everywhere and as close to everybody as a simple prayer.
