Red Billabong is the brain child of writer/director Luke Sparke. It is an Australian monster film where the superhero is the black guy. Great stuff.

Little Acorns is a nine part comedy for the web set in the fertile ground of a suburban child care centre. It is financed by Screen Australia as part of its multi platform scheme. Not only is it hilarious but it's a ground breaking investment in Australian talent. Releases September 1 on a computer screen near you.

The film The Women Who Were Never There is about the 1973 women's action for jobs at Port Kembla BHP steel works. Robyn Murphy was in town to show the film and fundraise for a future feature around the landmark case for jobs for women campaign. Donations can be made on the Jobs for Women Film Project website.

Downunder is a comedy about something really unfunny - racism and the 2005 Conulla riots. Unlike the rest of Australia that just wanted to pretend it didn't happen this new comedy by writer Director Abe Forsythe uncovers the dark humour in the Australian soul.
