Shit Talk Reviews

It's an Atreyu kind of day as the Sh!t Talk Reviews morons get into The Moment You Find Your Flame. Has David entered orbit? Did John lose all technical acumen? Has Derek taken the crown as the most responsible guy in the room? Clearly, the apocalypse is upon us. Check out the STR website at www.shittalkreviews.com and drop a note in the mailbox by clicking the microphone and scroll through t...

It's all about A Feast On Sorrow on this episode. Join the fellas as they take a walk and talk through this passionate new album offered up by UK trio Urne. We also learn this time around that David J is irritating, Derek is irritable and John is addicted to the pink.  Check the video version on YouTube at @ShtTalkReviews or check out the STR website at www.shittalkreviews.com for this review...

This week the Sh!t Talk Reviews idiots go super heavy with a conversation about Ashen, the latest release from Humanity's Last Breath. It's a seriously heavy album and for the STR guys, it led some realizations: David J's personal fan count is by far the highest, Derek's Boston is better than anyone else's Boston, and John is a crazy secretive Celine Dion fan. Sh!t Talk Re...

This week we sit down to dine and wind up  chowing down on some spicy meatballs! We get into the sophomore release from Mammoth WVH: II. The heat rises in the STR studios during this convo and there are moments when it looks like we’ll all be going home without dessert. But do we? You’ll have to tune in to find out!  In addition to talking Wolfie, we learn all about David J’s love for both rock da...

This time around we're getting into not one, but two albums from Cavalera Conspiracy; Bestial Devastation and Morbid Visions. Max, Iggor and crew have re-recorded both of these albums that were first given to the world back in 1985 and 1986, respectively, and we've been waiting to dig in.  In other news, David gets a phone call, Derek yearns for the days of cassette tapes from the Dartmo...

We were stoked to sit down for a conversation with Boston singer and bass player Keith Bennett. A true veteran in the Boston scene, Keith has been crushing it with bands like Wrecking Crew, PanzerBastard, Casket Rats and now Death Ray Vision. We talk the Boston scene history, the passion of music fans and why Goth clubs are some of the greatest places on the planet.  Any hockey fans in the house?...

This week the topic at hand is the latest release from Spirit Adrift: Ghost At The Gallows.  Surely you're asking yourself what went down in the STR studio, and we're here to satiate your need for the hottest info. We dive headfirst into Nate Garrett's killer album, suffer through David's general frustration and anger, get reminded that of all things that Derek is 100% not an i...

We had the great pleasure of sitting down with phenomenal bassist, producer, socialite, great father and all-around nice guy Eric J. Morgan for some rambling conversations. We chat about his musical history from his work with First Order up through A Pale Horse Named Death and Patriarchs In Black. We also touch on the intricacies of cultivating a healthy garden, the benefits of social media and ph...

Once again we find ourselves in different parts of the country this week as we talk about the new Currents album The Death We Seek. We chat about climbing out of a tough week as David lets his private "bead" collection out into the wild, Derek fishes for more sponsorship dollars and John tries desperately to just keep it together. Check out our Instagram profile and join us for more nons...

It's Death Ray Vision Day in the Sh!t Talk Studio! In this episode we get into DRV's new album No Mercy From Electric Eyes, discuss David J naked on a deserted island and speak quite highly of Boston's high-class mosh pit etiquette.   Many thanks for all the #STRDefaced pics you've sent us. If you need a stash for your stickering needs, hit us up at our Instagram! #deathrayvisi...

You're stuck on a deserted island. Forever. You've got next to nothing with you except (obviously) a few albums and the means to play them.  We jump in for a quick conversation about a few of the albums that we'd definitely want with us. No surprise to any of us, David wants the quintessential Barry Manilow collection. Derek throws a curveball and goes with a Bette Midler retrospect...

Queens Of The Stone Age dropped a new album and we just had to get into it. It’s a spicy bit of conversation and the guns were blazing. David J’s forehead has a target on it, Derek inadvertently launches an idea for a White Stripes reggae band and John still can’t read.    Check our IG and LinkTree for this and all our other reviews and do some defacing with some Sh!t Talk stickers!   IG - https:/...

Once again, David J has flown the coop, so we're relegated to Zoom to dig into this week's album review.  Finland's own OneFromTheNorth steps up with his third album, and he brings the madness with a fusion of metal and electronic. We also learn that John can't read, Derek loves domestic beer and David can live (at least) one more week with a reduced level of fear. #industrialm...

Things fall apart pretty quickly with this episode. (Then they get better, then all hell breaks loose.) Throughout all of it though, we get to talk about the latest release from King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard: PetroDragonic Apocalypse; or, Dawn of Eternal Night: An Annihilation of Planet Earth and the Beginning of Merciless Damnation. David J  looks past his advanced age and laces up his ska...

In today's deep dive we get into Avenged Sevenfold's latest album Life Is But A Dream . In a strange turn of events this week, the shit talking is not directed at David. (So you can all rest well, know that we've set up some counseling to help him get through these unprecedented times...) We also muse about why Country Time Lemonade still hasn't come through with the big sponso...

David J is back in the house! To celebrate his triumphant return, we'll be waxing poetic about wearing masks to preserve (and/or protect) one's identity from the masses, lighting podcast hosts on fire and the never ending search for the right words for this, that and anything else. We also find some time to talk about a killer new record from the mysterious Sermon. Tune in to get caught...

This week we continue to lament David J's absence while we talk about Cloak's new album Black Flame Eternal. We also touch on some of life's bigger questions: Are tighty whiteys appropriate for formal events? Should a visit to a gravesite be a cause for party poppers? Will the European Union permanently ban David for being a mostly-naked American? Join us for absolutely no answers t...

On this installment of A Gaggle Of Idiots Act Like They Know What They're Talking About, Derek and John lament David's absence, the guys set themselves up to be hunted and (potentially killed) by music industry heavyweights and they dig into [m]other, the killer new release from Veil Of Maya. Thanks to all who have supported us by sacrificing their scant few free minutes to check out wha...

In this episode we're talking about Unearth's latest album The Wretched; The Ruinous. We also explore the psychology of Derek's hypocrisy, John drinks some (more) lemonade and David puts forth an outlandish wardrobe request.  Drop us a line! What bands do you want us to review? Who should we interview next?

Discussing the highly anticipated 2023 Periphery release Djent Is Not A Genre. In this episode, the tables get turned and our resident whipping boy hands off his crown (at least for now...) and we get into the weeds as we discuss the prog metal giants that make up Periphery and their latest album.  Drop us a line! What bands do you want us to review? Who should we interview next?

A conversation about Scorched, the 20th release from thrash metal veterans Overkill. (And of course, a healthy dose of shit talking...) Drop us a line! What bands do you want us to review? Who should we interview next?

The inaugural Sh!t Talk Review.   Episode 1 - Metallica's 2023 release 72 Seasons. Drop us a line! What bands do you want us to review? Who should we interview next?
