Something new is happening at something old. Shepherd Church is excited to be launching our Johnstown Campus at a "brand new" location. Our purpose as a church is to help people take their next step toward Jesus wherever they might be in there journey. The role of a priest in the Old Testament was to offer sacrifices that were acceptable to God on behalf of the people. 1 Peter 2:5 tells us that as believers we are the "holy priests" of Jesus. What kind of sacrifices are we called to make?

Peter understood from being with Jesus that the kingdom of God was not physical, it was spiritual. He referred to Jesus as "the living cornerstone." The cornerstone is the first and most important stone set in the construction of a foundation. When we trust Christ for our salvation, we become part of the spiritual temple that Jesus is building.

As we continue to look at our "S.T.R.O.N.G." measures, we discuss "G" which is Generosity. Do you hold tightly to what you have or do you live open handed? Have you experienced the spiritual multiplier of how God makes more out of less when we are generous?

The last night before his crucifixion, Jesus demonstrated the importance of being a servant by washing the disciples feet. Being a servant must be really important for him to take the time at that moment to teach this. Is it in your nature to be a servant?

Peter commands the believers to not be conformed to their old ways of living. That means being set apart from the world, in other words, "holy."

Seems like an oxymoron, right? I'm living in exile, yet I can be victorious. That's exactly what Peter was saying. Today we're back in 1 Peter looing at his message to the Christian exiles and how it applies to us today.

Today is our final look at 1 Peter 1:1-12. We discuss how trials refine the purity of our faith. That we possess an unseen Savior. We have an abiding salvation that even intrigues the angels.

1 Peter 1:7 "The purpose of these troubles is to test your faith as fire tests how genuine gold is. Your faith is more precious than gold, and by passing the test, it gives praise, glory, and honor to God. This will happen when Jesus Christ appears again." Today we continue our look into chapter 1 of 1 Peter and we discover the refining work that trials in our life effectuates.
