In our day-to-day pace of life, it can be easy for comfort to become our focus. At the table in our mind, often we place the wrong things nearer to us: our comfort, our possessions, our successes, our ego and our pride. We experience freedom when we have the courage to look outsideof ourselves, toward a God who exalts the humble.

Our fears can sometimes seem logical, and sometimes they are irrational. This week, we remember that God is able, and that when we set our eyes on Him and refuse to look away, everything changes. We name the wind and the waves that crash around us, but we need to focus and fill our minds, hearts, and mouths with praise for the One who brings us through the storm – Jesus.

Miracles can seem like a distant past, but what if we knew that miracles still happen every day all around us? What if our hearts were awakened with joy and wonder, and our eyes were opened to see that Jesus is still at work today, in your life, and in every life around us? As we see David’s life, we can be enamored by his faithfulness and willingness to fightGoliath. His faithfulness was strong against Goliath, but weak against his own fleshlystruggles and desires. The same God who carried out such great victoriesthrough David is also the same God who calls David to repentance and vows todiscipline David for his unfaithfulness.

Moses challenged God and pushed back in his disbelief of what God was telling him hewas capable of doing. It wasn’t through his incredible belief that he became an influencer to an entire nation, it was through who his belief was in that made it all possible.

This week we take a look at the life of Abraham. We see that Abraham’s influence isn’t because he was trusting enough, but really because our God is trustworthy enough. As you and I continue to grow in owning our influence, may we too realize that our hope for our future doesn’t lie in our ability to trust, but in God’s worthiness to be trusted.

Today we wrap up our series Foundations with our 24th Annual Freedom Service. We will celebrate the freedom of our country and take time to honor the military men and women who protect it.

Today as we celebrate with our students who are being confirmed and graduating high school, we take a deeper look at the importance of our faith in Christ as the foundation we stand upon our entire lives.

This Mother's Day, we take time to acknowledge those women that God has placed in our lives to help us along our journey on this earth. We'll take a special look at the story of the Mayhew family, and how God continues to impact and move through a mother's faith and dedication.

This week we begin a series called Foundations, where we'll look at some important and vital anchors that we root us here at Shepherd's Gate. Today we'll be highlighting small groups, as well as celebrating with our students who are celebrating First Communion.

The story of Jesus didn’t end at the empty tomb. In fact, it continues even to this day. You and I are invited into the story, because when Jesus was sent to earth, He came also to send us out to share His story forevermore. This week, we look at the Great Commission that Jesus spoke and we see how we can be forever part of the Easter story.

The ground shook. The darkness trembled. Then, on the third day, everything changed. Death had been defeated and life has been redefined. The resurrection on Easter Sunday covers our entire past, and changes our entire future. We celebrate today the fact that Jesus rose from death, to life!

The disciples saw Him heal and work miracles. They saw Him speak truth and change lives before their eyes. Now, the one that was foretold for generations was hanging on a cross, dying and assumedly forsaken. On Good Friday, we experience the confusion and grief of this twist of the story, but rejoice in the fact that the cross was not the final chapter.

In a simple meal with His disciples, and through His miraculous body and blood, Jesus shared a part of Himself before He went to the cross. This Maundy Thursday, we come to the table of Jesus and experience His presence together.

The Messiah that had been prophesied throughout the Old Testament, the Savior that they had waited for, the One they had only heard about is now here. This Palm Sunday, we celebrate the King who came to earth for you and me.

As we seek to value giving freely and generously in our families, we’re challenged to ask ourselves about the motives behind why we’re giving what we’re giving.

We are truly loving God, when we place Him in his rightful place of authority in our family and in our personal lives. Our family values God’s laws for our lives and for our neighbors.

God isn’t about the things of this world, but wants a relationship that is real, genuine, trusting and forgiving.

Real fulfillment and joy comes in the service to each other. As we look to our family values and realize that true significance comes not from our prestige but from our humble service, may we be encouraged to find more opportunities to serve for the sake of others.

This week, we will see how Jesus raises the bar for someone who believes they are already living a God pleasing life. We aren’t saved because we do enough good. We aren’t made right in God’s eyes because of how hard we try. Instead, it’s all a gift. When we’ve been given something so good for nothing, it will drive us to extend that same forgiveness to others.

Rest is an investment. In a busy, noisy world we need quiet moments alone with the Father as Jesus modeled.
