Even more important than what the deacons might do is what the deacons must be. We finished our mini series on deacons by looking at the qualifications of deacons in 1 Timothy 3.

Deacons are a vital part of a biblical church that is growing and thriving. In this sermon Jonathan gives an overview of a biblical church leadership structure and how the deacons are an important office alongside the elders.

God loved us while we were His enemies, therefore, as God’s children, we are called to love our enemies too.

In the Beatitudes, Jesus gives us clarity on what life in his kingdom entails and compares it with the kingdom of this world.

On Resurrection Sunday, Jonathan Parks looks at the example that Lazarus is to believers when we endure suffering, and how we, like Mary, Martha and Lazarus can place our hope in Christ as the resurrection and the life.

Lazarus is the evidence of the power and work of Jesus and so they sought to kill him. Are we living our lives in a way that we are proof that Jesus is who he says he is?

Jesus is the only way to true and lasting rest. When we come to him for ultimate rest, he frees us from having to work for God’s favour and he frees us to do good for his glory and the good of others.

In Luke 5:27-39, we see the extraordinary grace of Jesus as well as his uncontainable majesty. 

In Luke 5:17-26, we look at the story of Jesus healing a paralytic lowered through a ceiling. Through this and His ensuing conversation with the Pharisees, Jesus identifies our most fundamental problem and presents how it’s solved.

In Luke 5:12-16, we see that Jesus is not only able, but he is willing to make clean those who are unclean.

In Luke 5:1-11 the first disciples show us that the right way to respond to Jesus Christ is to follow him obediently, humbly and wholeheartedly.

In 4:31-44 Luke introduces us to Jesus as the promised King who possesses all authority and power.

Beware of being so familiar with Jesus that you miss who he is and the opportunity of being his.

We continue our series in Luke’s gospel looking at the identity of Jesus as God’s beloved Son. When we understand who Jesus really is, we see that he is the answer to all of our failures.

Allen continues our series in Luke’s gospel, showing us how John the Baptist is the long-promised forerunner to the Messiah, calling people to turn to Jesus to experience God’s forgiveness and salvation.

With one of the only insights we get into the childhood of Jesus, Luke gives us a glimpse of Jesus’ identity and what’s he’s come to do. We’ll also unpack what this means for us.

The heavenly herald visits the shepherds in the field and tells them of the brith of a child. This is cause for great joy, for this child is a Saviour, Christ the Lord. The angel is joined by the heavenly host singing Glory to God.

After the birth of Zechariah’s son John, the Lord open his mouth and he is filled with the holy spirit and prophesies over the baby. Even though he is John’s father, his song focuses on the one to whom his son will point; A strong one from the House of David will emerge as a light of salvation.
