Why would Jesus say the temple and Jerusalem would be torn down? Why does he crush our dreams of gazing into the crystal ball for end times predictions?

With angels and archangels?? And ALL the company of Heaven?? What in the world???!

Does the Gospel, the Word, set us free to do, consume, take, and hurt whoever or whatever we want? By no means!

What does it feel like to be far away from home, blind, and begging? Can Jesus lead me home from even there?

The stuff and relationships that hold you back from fearing, loving, and trusting Jesus above all things, must be left behind. We gain a much larger family and a much large house in our Christian family. How do we begin this relationship? Baptism. The new Sabbath Rest. Jesus brought us there in our Baptism and returns us there whenever we remember it.

Surely the days of Amos the prophet are nothing like today…. Right?

Is Psalm 9 about us, Adam and Eve, or Jesus? As the taco commercial says, “why not both?” God granted humanity dominion over creation, but Jesus had to come down and do it right after the fall.

How does God preserve, refine, purify Christians?

In this reading, Jesus annihilates human understandings of power.

Only you can prevent forest fires. How great a forest is burned by a small fire. And that fire is the tongue.

We always like to think we’re the ones at the table, not the ones begging for scraps. Are Jesus’ gospel words always for us?

Above all else guard your heart! But didn’t Jesus say that things that come out of your heart are what defile the person?

You were created to do something and you are different from others who were also created to do another thing. Fall into your place in the body of Christ, the Bride of Christ.

Today we learn about the visitation of Mary. The entirety of salvation history and the language of the psalms and prophets were woven into Mary’s Magnificat, as all those things weave together as Christ’s human nature is woven together in the womb.

In this sermon we engage with Elijah and his story that may sound familiar to us: being driven into isolation and sinful desire because we feel all alone. Jesus, the Bread of Life, calls us out of that through faith in him and new life practiced in the Church community.

What if I don’t want what God gives me because it’s the same thing? What if I want something different, new, and exciting? Well, you and many others feel this way. Jesus calls you out of that toxic way of thinking. The ultimate “dopamine detox.”

What does it mean to be a servant of all? Are we called to drink of Christ’s cup and to be baptized with his baptism? Feast of St James.

Getting burnt out stinks, being stuck in a desolate place is worse. What does a Good Shepherd feed us? Where does He lead us?

Would I stand up for the Truth? Even if it was embarrassing in front of important people? If my beautiful wife ordered me to go against it?

I tried something I would usually only do for class: a narrative style sermon from the point of view of St. Mark in celebration of his Feast Day. With a resurgence of interest in “The Chosen,” with its second season debuting, I found desire in the hearts of the hearers to hear this genre of preaching. My first attempt at preaching a catechetical sermon on a martyr. I thought it would be cool to see through the life and death and life again of St Peter what it means to “share in the sufferings of Jesus Christ.”

How in the world does Jesus manifest His glory at the Wedding at Cana? Not even Moses saw the glory of the Lord! What about what He did at that wedding made his disciples believe in him as the Messiah who was promised of old?

So sorry that I forgot to upload this, I thought I had! This is a sermon about walking as children of the light, as opposed to like those who walk as those who are of the night.

This sermon is about the wedding feast we are invited too which the Father has organized to glorify and honor His Son. It’s also about burnout in our vocations and lives.
