God’s word is the guide for life. God encourages us to act, to plant seed, but we also must recognize his sovereignty over what will come of our sowing seed.

Wisdom is needed to rule and be ruled under the sun. Therefore, let us learn that wisdom and to look to God as the one true King.

God’s people are called to bless others through wisdom, but a fool’s words and works bring nothing but harm to himself and those around him. Therefore, let us seek the Lord’s help in speaking graciously, being humble, and working excellently.

Folly (acting contrary to the way the world really is) leads to all kinds of problems in our ordinary lives. In many ways, the folly of fools creates the problems they face. Therefore, let us act in wisdom—wisdom that comes from careful observation of the world, from listening carefully to others, and ultimately from the supernaturally revealed Word of God.

Folly is destructive, dangerous, recognizable, unnecessary, and prevalent. Therefore, let us weed out the folly in our lives and the lives of those we love and replace it with the wisdom of God.

Paul's imprisonment, rather than hindering the gospel, unexpectedly advanced it by spreading the message to the imperial guard and emboldening other believers to proclaim Christ boldly. Let us view our own circumstances and sufferings as divinely assigned stations for defending and advancing the gospel, repent from sin-induced bitterness or despair, and prioritize Christ's magnification above pers...

God blesses obedience and judges disobedience; ordinary faithfulness compounds to shape communities, while salvation ultimately depends on God’s mercy through the perfect Firstborn, Jesus. Practice everyday obedience (like gathering, serving, and praying) trusting God to multiply its impact, and rely on Christ’s intercession, not your performance, for standing with God.

Under the sun wisdom has real and inevitable limits and it has real and genuine benefits. When we understand the limits and benefits, we are in a good place to make the best use of it. Let us learn its benefits and limits in order that we might order our lives accordingly.

Every aspect of God’s creation is meant to give us joy as it points us to God as our greatest treasure. Therefore, let us joyfully look through the things of earth to the God who gave them.

Life under the sun inevitably includes the head-scratching reality that good people and bad people experience the same things in life under the sovereign hand of God. Let us interpret our circumstances with above the sun wisdom (God’s Word) more than below the sun wisdom (our senses and reason alone).

While God works in ways that don’t always make sense to us, they are always good and there is joy in the mystery. Let us stop trying to find joy through understanding God’s purposes in our circumstances, and start finding it through believing God’s promises for our circumstances.

Let us all grow in proper fear of God in order that we would turn more fully to God for His mercy and grace.
