Sermons from Pinelands Baptist

This week we spend some time looking at three aspects of the Kingdom of God and our response to that. Our scripture reference is Matthew 4:12-25.

In this sermon we combine two of the W's. We look at the when and where of Jesus' coming. We consider the relationship between God and time as well as why Jesus was born in a particular area.

After a break in the series we pick up our series on Daniel again. In this sermon we do a recap of the first 6 chapters of the book as well as an introduction to chapter 7.

In this part of the series, we explore what Jesus came to do and what that has to do with us. We find many purposes of Jesus' coming but we focus particularly on four of those reasons.

We continue our series by spending some time looking at how Jesus was tempted in the desert by the devil . The scripture reference for today is Matthew 4:1-11. We find that serving can at times also mean suffering.

Craig, our senior pastor, talks us through our missional congregations strategy. This is the church planting strategy that we as Pinelands Baptist Church have adopted.

We start a new series in which we ask questions about Jesus. In this first part we look at who Jesus is. Our bible passage for this sermon is Matthew 16:13-20.

Andrew starts a new series with us in which we're looking at the person and work of Jesus. The scripture used in this sermon is Matthew 3:1-17.

Following on last week's sermon, we explore the idea of fasting. We also discuss the importance of praying in the Spirit.

In Hebrews 12:1-13 we read about running the race with endurance. In this sermon we explore what that means and how we run the Christian race well.

We take a look at the impact of habits and how our most important command is to love the Lord our God. This then drives our obedience to Him and impacts our habits. The scripture used is Deuteronomy 6:1-8.

We look at God's invitation to come to Him if we are thirsty. We see how the invitation awakens longing and the importance and impact of prayer. The scripture reference for this sermon is Revelations 22:17.

The Scripture for this sermon is Philippians 1:12-26. We focus especially on verse 21. We look at how Paul's life changed through three tests: imprisonment, opposition and the threat of death.

We start the year off by taking a look at how life is a gift. We specifically explore the idea of time and how we should live our lives in light of eternity. The scripture used is Matthew 22:23-33.

As we close this year, we explore three ways in which we are a new creation when we are in Christ Jesus. The Bible passage referenced in this sermon is 2 Corinthians 5:14-21.

In this Christmas Day message we look at several ways in which we get the message of Christmas wrong and what the true message is.

We round off our advent series "Following the signs & finding God". The Scripture used is John 1:1-5, 14.

We study how three different groups of people consider the signs that God gives them in the story of the birth of Jesus. We find that the presence of signs doesn't guarantee the response of the heart. The scripture used in this sermon is Matthew 2:1-18

In this part of the series we look at the appearance of the angels throughout the Christmas story. Some parts of the sermon were acted out by some of our youth. The lines cannot always be heard on the recording but they are what the angels say in the bible. Follow along to the sermon with your bible and you won't miss a thing.

We visit several scenes of Jesus' life. We find that we should not be caught up in the spirit of the holidays but rather in the Spirit of God and how important it is to keep sharing the good news of Jesus.

Our guest speaker Nate, follows on Craig's sermon from last week on following the signs and finding God. In this sermon we see how the shepherds followed the sign pointing to Jesus. Scripture used is Luke 2:6-21

We read some verses from Matthew 2 around the birth of Christ. We look at signs that make us wonder and how God gives us signs because He loves us.

We look at Jonah 4 and consider Jonah's anger in this chapter as well as God's response.

We look at how justice and Christmas come together by looking at Micah 5:2-5.

Kirk takes us through what it looks like to prepare for Christmas. We look at what Mary's response was to the coming of baby Jesus, in her song found in Luke 1:46-55. By reflecting on her song we see the opportunities that Christmas bring us.
