Today, we are celebrating Easter Sunday, or as we often call it, Resurrection Day. It is the day Jesus rose from the dead, providing confirmation that His sacrifice for our sins on the cross was, indeed, accepted by God.

This trial was a sham. The Sanhedrin had no evidence that Jesus had blasphemed in any way, nor any that He had committed any crime or sin. He truly was innocence on trial.

This, like Psalm 124, is a psalm that describes the oppression of the enemy. Just as in 124, the enemy’s oppression is undone by the Lord’s salvation. After outlining the extent of the oppression, the psalm turns the attention to the salvation of the Lord that comes through the judgment of the wicked.

No matter what the problem, the enemy uses all sorts of things to sweep “over your soul” like “raging waters.” The result is often the same: you feel like your soul is drowning. This is exactly what David is describing in Psalm 124. He is recounting a time when he felt like his soul was being swept away by raging waters. The only thing keeping him from being swept away? We must be united with the same mindset of Christ.

The purpose of the Christian on earth is the greater progress of the gospel.

Christians must portrait to the world who we are, so that our actions can point them to God, can point them to Christ.
