Seeking Pearls

What amazing text we get today! God listens and communicates, God protects, God never changes his mind, and God is stronger than any evil we will ever face.

God is our King, and he desires to have our hearts follow him only. He is holy; he is powerful; he is King.

In today's very challenging text we focus on the shocking love and faithfulness of God.

Judges is a sad cycle of forgetting God, sin, oppression, forgiveness, and deliverance. It is very real, raw, and can be disheartening to read. On the other hand, we can see our own patterns of walking with God, falling away, sin, and asking God yet again to come and rescue us.

In Joshua we see God's promise to Abraham coming to fruition as the Israelites conquer the land of Canaan and make allotments of the land. God is the one true God who invites us to walk with him faithfully and love him fully.

God is a mighty, sun-stopping, covenant-fulfilling God! Correction: when I was listening I realized that I twice stated that 2-3 thousand people crossed the Jordan. I misspoke! It was 2-3 MILLION!

God is a covenant making God who walks with us people and desires a personal relationship with us. The end of Moses' life is beautiful proof of a life lived with God.

In the middle chapters of Deuteronomy we continue hearing God's command to be careful, to celebrate and rejoice, and to care for our neighbors in community. It ends with a beautiful picture of God walking amongst the people, which is exactly how the Bir begins and ends.

We have a covenant-keeping, loving, mighty God who loves us, chooses us, and asks that we love him back.

There is nothing easy or light about today's text! But it is real and powerful and full of truth. God is pure. God is holy. God is just.

The Bible is raw and real and doesn't sugarcoat a thing! Join me in some tough chapters!

God knows our names, every gift matters, he protects women, and leads us in obedience training!

God is an atoning God who claims us as his own, sets us free, communicates with us, and never breaks his covenant!

Leviticus 1-15 teaches us beautifully about the holiness, communicativeness, and love of God. Also, his brilliant intelligence! And of course, the whole thing points us to Jesus, the only sacrifice that can truly take away our sin.

Exodus 32-40 teaches about God's glory, forgiveness, willingness to act according to our prayers, beauty, love, justice, and his desire to meet with us.

Day 7! Exodus 21-31 teaches us about God's holiness, relationality, and his tremendous care for the less-powerful in the world.

Day 6: In Exodus 11-20 God works mightily and personally!

Exodus 1-10 teaches us about our great and mighty God. He is God; we are not. He is mighty; we are not. He is all-powerful; we are not.

God is so involved in every single messy detail of our lives!

In his brilliant finish to this beautiful letter, Paul instructs the believer how to get dressed in God's armor. Who are we to think that we can enter a world at war with just our skin on? We can't, and we shouldn't. God has provided, through the power of the Holy Spirit, spiritual armor to cover our minds, hearts, souls, spirits, and wills. Let's get dressed!

In Ephesians 5, Paul tells us more about what it means to live in the light. Namely, it means to walk like Jesus. And that, my friend, means to love. To love God, to love others, to love our families, to love the Church. To love is to be like Jesus.
