We do not live in a culture that makes it easy to go without. So when we voluntarily give something up, we usually look for applause. Pastor Jon turns to look at Biblical fasting, how it expresses right heart motives. Jon works through the six Biblical reasons for fasting, what fasting should and shouldn't look like, and how fasting works into the Christian walk.  

The Magi, the Three Wise Men, the Kings of the East - there are several names by which we call the three figurines in the creche that brought baby Jesus gold, frankincense, and myrrh. In our last teaching on the Kings of Christmas for 2025, Pastor Lucas looks at the kings from the east who came a long way to seek out and meet this new born king, Jesus Christ.

Christmas involves quite a few kings. When Jesus, the King of Kings, entered the world, there were already earthly kings that Jesus's Kingdom challenged. Pastor Jon compares Jesus's holy, eternal, and powerful Kingdom to the limited and dark ones of Caesar and Herod.

Jesus is the King of Christmas. But did you realize he's not the only king involved in the amazing rescue story that we celebrate at Christmastime? Pastor Jon starts our examination of powers - and specifically the power of Evil in the world - and how the Christmas story destroyed the lasting power of Evil so it no longer owns us - all because of Jesus.

One of the most well-known, well-loved, oft-used, most-memorized passages of all of scripture is the part of the Sermon on the Mount commonly called The Lord's Prayer. Pastor Jon steps us through the passage, examining what it expresses about God, and what it calls us to do as members of God's Kingdom. 

What do you think your legacy will be on Earth? How about in Heaven? Pastor Jon helps us grapple with what actually matters: serving God, not human desires. He looks at how we submit and serve God determines what of our lives is remembered, what is redeemed, and what ripples into eternity. 

How we react to mistreatment is a heart thing. Pastor Angela looks at how Jesus talked about retribution and how we, as Christians, are called to respond to insults and anger with restraint and humility, because members of Christ's kingdom know that love is stronger than revenge.

We live in a culture that thrives on lies, full of ideas like post-truth, my truth, fake news, alternative facts, and truth decay. Pastor Jon challenges our society's acceptance of lies with the absolute truth of Jesus and his world-rocking teachings on lying, vows, and oaths. 

There is no one untouched by divorce, either directly or indirectly. Despite its prevalence, there is a lot of confusion on how Christians are supposed to understand divorce. Sex has always been a hot topic, even back in Jesus's day. Pastor Jon looks at what Jesus taught about sex, adultery, love, and lust and how it all applies to our lives today. 

Anger is everywhere. Anger is easy. So much of our emotional life is conditioned by our anger. Pastor Lucas acknowledges our human inclination to anger, but walks us through how we can overcome anger with love, a love that we have because God first loved us.

We all live by rules. Sometimes those rules make sense by themselves, but sometimes they have a bigger purpose. Pastor Jon explores what Jesus meant when he said he came to fulfill the law, not abolish it. This week, he dives deep into the purpose of the law, how it leads to Jesus and salvation, and how we as Christians are to understand it in our Kingdom walk.
