Swimming South Africa (SSA) President Allan Fritz believes that the 2020 Tokyo Olympics might be postponed until the end of the year. The International Olympic Committee (IOC) is considering a postponement of Tokyo 2020, and has given itself a deadline of four weeks to make a decision.

Over the years, South Africa athletes have established Italy as their training base in Europe before major events, this is where the likes of Wayde Van Nierkek and Akani Simbine were camping before Van Nierkek broke the 400m world record four years ago in Rio to win the Olympic medal.
