Matthew 5:32-37 Oaths. Jesus begins to retrain his listeners understanding of oath making and telling the truth. He cuts straight to the heart of the matter once again and calls for our “yes” to simply be “yes” and “no” to simply be “no”.

Matthew 5:30-32 The Beauty of the Covenant. In Matthew 5:31-32, Jesus wants us to see the BEAUTY, the WEIGHT and the CERTAINTY of COVENANT. One of the ways God puts this on display is in the creation of marriage and divorce sadly distorts this.

Matthew 5:26-30 Lust. Lust is evidence of a heart whose worship is misdirected, the created rather than the Creator.

Matthew 5:21-26 Get Real! Anger destroys! As we strive to have others released of their anger towards us, we learn to release others of our own anger. God is far more gracious than we can perceive and his grace sometimes shows up in our lives in an upside-down manner.

Part 3 - Matthew 5:17-20True discipleship calls us to devote ourselves to Scripture, just as Jesus did. We are called to not subtract or add anything to it, which will lead us to true righteousness only found in Jesus.
