Psalm 142 Despair and hope are inherent to the human experience. In a world plagued by consistent hopelessness and distress, despair is imminent, and we need to anchor ourselves in a hope that is unlike anything the world has to offer. Advent presents us with an opportunity to see God responding to our despair and also provides us with an eternal hope that helps us fix our eyes on the above.

Mark 8:27-9:1 (CSB) Confessing Jesus as the Messiah means denying yourself, taking up your cross and following Him. It means embracing the paradox that losers are keepers. It brings eternal reward to one’s soul! We are called to confess Jesus Christ, the Son of the Living God, the kings of Kings. The One who takes away my sin and your sin and gives us eternal life. Through this encounter we learn more about what exactly it is that Jesus came to do. We have seen that He is the promised King Messiah, but today we also see that He comes to fix which is unfixable - our broken hearts.

The biggest question in Habakkuk's prayers and laments is: "Is God good, when there is so much evil in the world?". The vision of Habakkuk in this portion of scripture is God's answer to this question. God doesn't only answer the prophet, He describes to the prophet how he should live in this in-between time in chapter 2:4 and 2:20; between the promise and the fulfillment....

Habakkuk 1:1-4 Habakkuk teaches us that we can look back on the Lord’s past faithfulness to trust Him with our present and future realities, even when what God is doing, doesn’t always make sense.
