Science shows that our words can change each other: how we see ourselves, how we behave, what we think. If that's true of how our words can affect each other, how much more true can it be of God's Word to us?

How does God transform us into the likeness of Jesus? In lots of ways, but He also uses our own efforts. As Peter writes, "Make every effort to add to your faith goodness." But what kind of effort does it take to grow in Christ? And what if we're not exactly the hard workers God wants us to be?

Scripture tells us we need to be transformed into the image of Christ. To do that, we need God's wisdom. But what is wisdom, and how do we get it? And who's wisdom should we listen to? Join us as we continue in our 'Morph' series to learn more about wisdom's essential role in our transformation.

The Bible says we must be transformed to look and live like Jesus. On our own, that's impossible! But we're not on our own. The Bible says that God himself is the wind at our backs, helping us change, in the person, presence, and power of the Holy Spirit, at work in our lives.

To be transformed in the likeness of Christ, we must have mentors.

When most people hear the word "grace," they think "forgiveness." And the grace of God does refer to his mercy for sinners. But there is a power to grace, and it's what we need to truly be transformed into the likeness of Christ. How does grace change us, though? Listen in.

As we end our slow walk through Genesis, let's reflect. We've learned that God created a good, ordered world, but humans have become violent and vengeful instead. With all the bloodshed, it leaves us wondering if there's any hope for humanity. After God punishes Cain and makes him wander the earth, he finds a wife and builds a city. Is this a good thing? We're left to wonder. Cain's city becomes an image of all the creativity and culture humans are capable of — and all the wickedness, too.

Following Cain's murder of his brother, Abel, the Lord casts him even further from the Garden of Eden, where he will wander the earth. Cain is terrified of this punishment, but the Lord shows Cain mercy even in His justice.

Join us as we explore the climax of the Cain and Abel story. Is this simply a fight between two brothers or a story about the condition of those living East of Eden?

After his offering is rejected, Cain has a choice to make. God knows it is an important moment and gives him advice that all of us should remember. Even after our sins and mistakes, we can still choose good. That doesn't mean we will, though....

In Genesis chapter three, God warns Adam and Eve that calamity will result from their sin in the garden. In chapter four, we see what that calamity looks like and who it will affect. But we also see God sow seeds of hope in what is now a bloody and brutal world.

Join us as we wrap up Chapter Three: Rebellion in the Garden. These verses are jam-packed with A LOT of theological ideas, but exile is the theme we want to pay the most attention to. It teaches us about ourselves and God's response to us. What is God's response when we exile ourselves from the garden? He makes a way back to us. But how? Join us to find out!

After disobeying God in the Garden, the serpent and woman are given some stiff penalties. But the man is not spared. While the serpent will crawl in the dust, and raising children will be painful for the woman, the man will experience pain while raising food from the dust to feed his family, until he returns to the ground from which he came. And we've been toiling in the dust ever since.

There have been prison breaks before, but nothing as impossible--or important--as Jesus' escape from death. Listen to this Easter message as Pastor Matt describes death as a tomb from which only Jesus can free us.

In Genesis 1-3, we see God bless. He creates the world and gives it light, life, and a garden where people can live forever. But the same God who blesses can also curse. His first curse? The serpent who ruined it all.

After doing the one thing they were told not to do in the Garden of Eden, Adam and Eve have the chance to come clean. Instead, they play our favorite game: they blame each other. And we've been blaming each other ever since. We can't truly grow up as followers of Jesus while also being blame-shifters, though. God walked in the Garden of Eve and asked the humans he created, "Where are you?". Did He lose their location or was God playing hide and seek? The answer is no. So why did God ask Adam and Eve this question? Find out.

The snake in the garden is shrewd and manipulative, but the man and woman still choose to eat from the Tree of Knowledge. In this act, we learn a lot about sin. We also learn how we can say No to the serpent when he comes slithering into our own lives.

When the serpent first shows up in the Garden of Eden, we're not sure what he's there to do. Is he a good snake or a bad one? As soon as he opens his mouth, we know he's there only to ruin God's good world. The serpent's still at it, too.
