Jesus’ baptism and genealogy revealed the Father’s pleasure in His Son. In Christ, we can rest in the Father’s delight, knowing our identity is secure in belonging to Him.

John the Baptist boldly called people to immediate repentance. We must turn to Jesus today because we are unsure how much longer His patience will be.

After deliverance came celebration, and faithful servants helped preserve the story. God uses ordinary people who say yes to extraordinary causes for His glory.

Instead of suffering defeat, God’s people gained ground. When God fights for you, no enemy can stand.

Esther’s position insulated her from the opposition to God’s people, but she couldn’t sit idly or stay silent. We ought to plead on behalf of others when they cannot protect themselves.

Haman’s rage consumed him, and his plot backfired in dramatic fashion. Unchecked anger not only harms others, but it also destroys us.

Haman designed a plan for the king to honor himself, but he surprisingly used those directions to honor his enemy, Mordecai. Do the right thing, and honor will come to you in the right way and at the right time.

Esther seized her God-given opportunity and used it with wisdom. When we obey His leading, we must act with diligence and discretion.

Mordecai urged Esther to intervene for the sake of God’s people but trusted their survival even if she refused. We must remember that God’s will advances, with or without us.

Haman’s hatred of the Jews incited him to seek their destruction. Any type of perceived superiority based on nationality or ethnicity is unfounded and ungodly.

Mordecai wasn’t afraid to do what was right or refuse to do what was wrong. Regardless of the consequences, we must resolve to do the right thing. 

A pagan king sought a replacement queen, and Esther’s beauty positioned her for a purpose far greater than appearances. With God, no position is accidental—only providential.

God’s people were exiles in a land where its leaders exemplified drunkenness, objectification, and all manner of sinful dysfunction. In this unconstrained society, God enacted a plan even though He was never mentioned or honored.
