The Detroit Lions (7-8) came into Carolina with hopes of a win, and a playoff birth in time for Christmas. They left with their tail between their legs. The Lions were beaten soundly and repeatedly. The Carolina Panthers (6-9) achieved record numbers of total yards and rushing yards.
