Jesus came and broke down the dividing wall of hostility between us and God, and between us and ourselves.  And  now He has given us all access to God, and He has given us all a new identity, and He has given us all a new mission.

"But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ." This is what God has done for us in Jesus. He has brought us near. He didn't just show us the way. He came and brought us home. So, we can trust Him with today.

In this well-known passage from Ephesians 2, we see how the sin situation in our lives is much worse than we think, how the problem of sin is not so much one that is out there, but one that is in here. And this makes the grace of God in Christ all the more astounding.

In this message, we close out chapter 1 of Ephesians, focusing on Paul's prayer for the saints in Ephesus, a prayer for Christian hope, for them to understand their position as God's chosen inheritance, and for them to know the resurrection power that is at work in them by the Holy Spirit.

The recurring theme or motif through each of the first three movements in Ephesians 1 is the lavish grace and mercy of God in redemption. And the response to that blood-bought redemption is the praise of His glory.

One of the things that's made really clear in the early verses of the Letter of Paul to the Ephesians is that Christ's glory is God's priority. It's that the Father's plan from before the foundation of the world was " to unite all things in him, things in heaven and things on earth ."

In this message we take a look at the glorious grace of God in Christ to His people, the Church, and we consider the weight of that grace to a people called and equipped to praise the name of our Savior.
