Joseph is a fascinating character, especially in the parallels between his time in prison compared with how the world treated Jesus later. Accused of a crime he did not commit, Joseph never let go of his faith in God—who was with him all the time.

The pursuit of pleasure and success is a pervasive goal for modern-day Americans. Yet Solomon says that even when you achieve it, you have nothing. The Apostle Paul has a different message about being content irrespective of circumstances.

This week, the Ecclesiastes passage is on money and wealth. If that's what you are pursuing, you will never be satisfied. Philippians has a different message for us, one that tells us we have something to gain worth more than all the money in the world.
