Studying scripture doesn’t require deep dives into academic papers. There are plenty of publications that are written to help you discover who you are in Christ. Today we discuss some of them. 

Rick and Larry talk about the importance of clarity about what “inerrant” means in the context of scripture. The Word of God (Jesus) is inerrant, and the original manuscripts are without error. God insured that what the original writer used the words God gave them.

In this week’s episode of In Real Time Rick has a deep conversation with Larry Eiss on the process of the difficulties of translating scripture. It begins with Romans 8:1 with a discussion on how some translations have different endings of this verse. While scripture remains inerrant there are many variances.

Hebrews 10:25:  not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching. Often when we meet with other believers one of the first questions we get asked is “where do you go to church?” It seems rather innocuous, but this question, has 4 purposes I want to explore.

In this episode of In Real Time I want to bring some clarity to the verse 1 John 1:9. This was not directed to the believers in Ephesus, but to the non-believers called Gnostics. This verse is being misused if we, as Christians, are taught to confess sins that are already forgiven.

In episode two Rick and Steve go into some detail about 2 Corinthians 5:19: “whereas God was in Christ reconciling  the  world to Himself, not imputing their trespasses to them, and putting the word of reconciliation in us.” Does “not imputing their trespasses to them” mean all of our sins?

This week on “In Real Time” Rick talks about the teaching that as a new creation in Christ we can be a saint and sinner simultaneously. I don’t believe this to be true. I believe we are one hundred percent forgiven, perfected, and a brand-new creation in Christ. That is our identity. 

In today’s episode Rick and Dan talk about confrontation. Dan believes confrontation is rooted in the belief in your greatness, and that confrontation requires someone that believes in me more than I believe in myself.

Today we look at Ephesians 2 and discuss how grace is the free gift from God and no one can earn it by works. Forgiveness is God’s free gift as well. God loves us because of who He is, not because of what we do or don’t do!

Rick and Jeremy discuss how the modern church has emphasized morality over relationship with God. Religion teaches that we have the right to hold onto past hurts and demand justice over forgiveness. Forgiveness may be extended, but trust must be reestablished through this process.
