Today we are going to be in a monumental chapter, Genesis 17. Once again God speaks to Abram and enhances the covenant he has made with him previously.  Today as we walk through this passage we will consider: i) God's promises and pledge vv.1-8, 15-16.  ii) The Sign of the Covenant vv.9-14  iii) Abraham's Response vv.17-27

Faltering Faith, 14th August 2022 by Zane Elliott (Genesis 16, 1 John 4:13-15) 14.08.2022

In Genesis 16 we come across Sarai and Abram; later renamed Abraham, who have been waiting for God to show up and fulfil a promise made ten long years earlier.  As Zane Elliott opens this passage we see two contrasting ideas.  i) Human doubt vv.1-6. Doubt plays on Sarai’s mind, and she finds her own solution, instead of waiting on God. Then we will be reminded of; ii)  God’s faithfulness vv.7-16....

In this sermon we see how an International conflict threatens to interfere with God's promise to give Abram  the land of Canaan.
