What does it look like when the Kingdom of Heaven grows? At first it may not look like much is going on at all. It may seem weak in comparison to the evil that surrounds it. But as it grows it begins to powerfully change the world.  06-12-2020 - Lucas Durant

Yet he received mixed reviews, with some people celebrating him as the Messiah and some people calling him Satan himself. Jesus and his disciples often came into conflict with religious rules and traditions of their time. The religious officials accused them of throwing out God's commands, but Jesus was only throwing out their faulty teachings. If you had to describe who Jesus Christ is in his innermost being, how would you describe him? While we might use lots of words, and many would be accurate, Jesus describes himself like this - "I am gentle and humble in heart." We live in a fallen world, but progress is possible. Despite the corrupting influence of sin, God-given common grace means that human efforts can advance human flourishing. But Christians shouldn't be naive optimists - sin will always advance alongside and at the same pace as progress. Does God ever reject our worship? And if so, what kind of worship is acceptable to Him? In Genesis 4 we see that the effects of sin are far reaching - twisting our emotions, polluting family relationships, and driving us out of the presence of God. Sin is rebellion against God and justice demands that it must be punished. In Genesis 3 we see God subject the creation to frustration through a series of curses. Sin is rebellion against God. At the moment when the first humans rejected God's Word to them and chose to live without reference to Him, the snake promised that their eyes would be opened. What is the biggest problem facing our world? What is the biggest problem you face? Are the two linked? According to the Bible, the root cause of all our problems - large or small - is the same.
