Anxiety is part of the human experience. We all struggle with it from one time to another but how do we understand it? Where is it really coming from? Peter explains that to understand any disorder you need to understand the original order and to understand the original order you need to let God teach you about you.

Jesus is a perfect fit for fallen human beings. He is perfect, we are not. On the cross Jesus brought about peace between God and us and his resurrection guarantees that he will continue to intercede for us.

Melchizedek was the first in a new line of priests that was completed and fulfilled by Jesus. Jesus now lives and continually intercedes for His children. This gives us great hope.

In Hebrews 6:9-12, the author switches quickly from warning to encouragement. He is keen for his hearers to persevere through life by holding onto the promises of God.

Peter explains how Hebrews 6:1-12 speaks more about assurance of salvation rather than the possibility of losing salvation. Jesus is a great saviour who loses none of His children.

Peter explains how the author of Hebrews makes the connection between true knowledge and obedience. Our problem is not the lack of the evidence and truth, but the suppression of it … and this suppression is largely the result of disobedience. On the contrary greater obedience leads to deeper knowledge.

Hebrews is written to encourage followers of Jesus to take care of the gift of salvation, that they might not drift away from Jesus. Nathan outlines 4 ways to neglect salvation, and how to counter that.

Jesus said the way that the people in the church love each other should be a mechanism through which people are led to Him. To the church's shame, history demonstrates that the church has been more effective in fighting with one another than loving each other. Peter lays down some guidelines regarding how conflict should be handled in church.

Peter takes us through 5 very practical steps in dealing with conflict.  

Peter explains the underlying mechanism that lies behind almost all conflict: we want something, the desire for it begins ruling our hearts and we fight each other to get it.

Conflict is Everywhere. Everyday we see it, hear it and engage with it. Peter discusses the mechanism of conflict and examines if conflict can actually be an opportunity for us to grow through.

Peter describes how the heart of God is to generously supply mercy and grace to those who don't deserve it.

Peter explains how sin is far more than just a mistake or an act of disobedience; sin has corrupted us deeply, right down to our perception and understanding of ourselves and our world. It is into this sin induced impairment that God speaks with clarity and truth; the more we receive of his word, the more sane we become.

The writer of Hebrews reminds us that any of us can develop a hardened heart. The mechanism that brings about this hardening is the deceitfulness of sin. The antidote to the deceitfulness of sin is to be a part of a loving, truth-speaking biblical community.

Moses was unable to bring the rest that the people of Israel longed for; the cause of this was that they kept going astray in their hearts. Jesus has dealt with this tendency by giving us a new heart.

One of the most unthinkable things in the universe is that God would want to be our friend; but this is exactly what He does. Learn from Moses how to be a friend and hear Jesus' heart that has planned, from the beginning of time, to be your friend.

Jesus killed the devil, sin and death with His own death. In doing this he freed us from the fear of death and this places us in a position where life and death are no longer ultimate for us ... Christ is.

Peter speaks about how the mechanism of suffering brings about the change in us that God desires. It is His servant and He uses it for His glory and our good.

Peter speaks on how Jesus was made complete by the suffering he endured. He is our brother and as we are family we can expect that God will use suffering to bring us to completion.

Peter explains how everyone uses their imagination to understand reality and how imagination is an integral component of a vibrant faith.

Peter shows how the great salvation is announced by Jesus, passed on accurately and confirmed by supernatural signs.

Jesus is the pinnacle of God's revelation and the writer of Hebrews identifies listening to Him as our first priority. Pay more attention to Him.
