You see, a Vacuum is a space entirely devoid of matter, whereas residue is the opposite; residue leaves a trail or something behind to remind us that something happened and you remember it. In many cases, the residue we carry with us far outweighs the vacuum we experience. The residue of a person living in an abusive relationship has far more consequences for the individual who experienced it.
