Following Jesus comes with significant hardship, but it also produces incredible joy. One of these joys is our opportunity to participate in God’s mission. We can join in prayer, trust him deeply, engage with others, and preach the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. Let us rejoice in the message of peace and hope and proclaim the truth to the world around us!

Believers should not expect to live without any conflict in their lives. But as they navigate times of necessary or unnecessary disagreement and confrontation, they must enter into conflict with the mindset of the servant of Christ, desiring unity, pursuing Christlikeness, and walking in love. Let us have the same mind as one another and put aside the selfish motives that often taint our relations...

Jesus does not hide what his mission entails. Unlike swindlers and schemers, he does not have red tape, fine print, or hidden conditions. He makes it abundantly clear that following him means following him to the cross. Yet he is worth it, worth all the pain and suffering that could ever come, for following Jesus means losing your life to find it. Jesus is worth it!

Jesus has a heart for outsiders. He evidences this by going to the least of these, the unwanted in society, and offering the good news of the gospel. He shows his mercy in his response to rejection. And preeminently, he shows his mercy in his dedication to the cross, the instrument of torture of suffering that he endured for the sake of all who believe in him. We all have pride deep in our hearts, and it comes out in our thoughts, words, and actions far too often. Disciples of Jesus root out that pride, submitting to his plan for his followers in humility. You cannot follow Jesus with a spirit of self-centered pride. Lay it down at the foot of the cross and embrace the humble Lord Jesus who has gone before you in humility of his own!

Jesus is worthy. He is worthy of our praise, worthy of honor, worthy of our faith. Jesus clearly displays his glory, compassion, and power in what he did in his earthly ministry and in how he works in our lives today. Jesus is worthy. Will you trust him?
