Jesus calls us to be radically counter-cultural. In this passage, Jesus teaches about the actions of radical love and the rational behind radical love.

The external realities of a shaken world The external confidence in an unshakable God Our eternal conviction in a sovereign Saviour

The Saviour's Opposition.  Jesus is: (1) Lord of the Sabbath (v.1-5); (2) Lord of Love (v.6-11); and (3) Lord of the New Israel (v.12-16).

The unpalatable Grace of Jesus The uncontainable Majesty of Jesus

Christianity is fundamentally different from every other religion, because Jesus is willing and able saves us from our sin; he does not require us to find our own way to him or to make ourselves well - he does for us what we cannot do for ourselves.

The Saviour's Commission.  Simon Peter, as the model disciple, is: (1) humble before God's Word; (2) convicted of sin; (3) commissioned for divine service; and (4) cleansed by the grace of Christ.

The Saviour's Priority.  Jesus, the proven Son of God, speaks words that have total authority over evil and sickness, highlighting his unfolding priority.
