Adam Chaffins has roots buried deeply in country music’s soil, including  several years with legendary band Town Mountain. His new sound, though,  is a reflection of his personal and musical experiences that weave  together a sound and mood that is distinctly unique while being  comfortably familiar.

With a tone that seeks to capture a 70s-era country sound, each of the members of this band has played in a score of other bands throughout their careers.

Our first episode for the 20th season brings us Bill and the Belles! This east Tennessee-based group plays an interesting mix of old time, bluegrass, and swing, primarily focused on the sounds of American music in the period prior to WWII. 

In the tradition of such Holy Blues Reverends like Reverend Gary Davis  -- such is the irreverent Reverend Freakchild. He's worked with Blues  staples like Melvin Seals, Mark Karan, Chris Parker, Hugh Pool, Jay  Collins, and Grammy-nominated G. Love. We're so excited to have him on  the show!

Fusing their storytelling tunes with country, bluegrass, and rock 'n' roll, Woody and the Piners create a sound that can be described as Appalachian alt-country. Don't worry, they'll supply you with a steady shot of southern rock 'n' roll!

A group based in Louisville and Lexington, Letters of Acceptance began  years ago and has now picked up where it left off! Having released a lot  of music and toured around the region, this is an amazing band!

The Heavy Hitters are a band of young cats hungry to play. 

They're a revolving group of performers, some of whom have performed on  the Red Barn stage before! Playing Celtic music with a Bluegrass twist,  we're excited to have Croghan's Crossing on the show with us tonight!

This is a band comprised of several familiar faces in the emerging Bluegrass scene. With a style that nudges traditional to new places, this Kentucky-made Bluegrass quintet are a force to be reckoned with.

DM and the 1601's come to us as a largely acoustic trio for this  show—which suits the two guitarists just fine considering their history of playing Bluegrass music-- but DM and the 1601's also perform as a full-bore Outlaw Country operation which they'll return to with a band reconfiguration and new drummer. This weeks trio is Dustin Middleton, Jamie Stewart and Kyle Wynn.
