Recorded Sessions

Comedy EN ↓ 76 episodes

There are sessions that are put when meetings happen and alcohols flow. On puttings of said sessions, much randomness is generated : sometimes, these are about intelligent things, sometimes not. In either case, these recordings are completely unintelligible; any attempt to find meaning would be futile, so kindly don't try. This podcast simply captures that sessionable spirit (pun may/may not be intended).

Episodes

309: Twenty years on, Pepsi's lightning strikes again 21.01.2021

Where there is a first ever guest on the show - one of the hosts of South Talkies - who joins us to discuss 20 years of Pepsi's Minnale. And, as is inevitable, this leads to tangents of discussing GVM, all and sundry.

308: Looking back, no politics 08.01.2021

Where there is a look back at 2020, the highs (not that kind), the not-so-highs, and the general nonsense. Talk of thalaivar, politics, non-politics, movies, TV, and the whatnot. And of course, there is an excellently upbeat outro that bodes well for 2021.

307: Behind the no-scenes 12.12.2020

Where there is wide-ranging discussion from movies, to politics, to cricket, to football, to geography, to corona, to all and sundry - none educative but all highly useless (and mildly entertaining). The part in brackets is clearly a NOT joke.

306: Silver jubilee but no jalebi 23.11.2020

Where there is celebration of completing 25 episodes with virtually no audience (even fewer readers of this description) in typical style by talking about nothing of substance.  Even the words in the end credits have more meaning, honestly.

305: Youth, here and now 04.11.2020

Where there is long review of short films, short review of long films (not really), all and sundry. The obligatory outro is, as always, the best part.

304: Michael, Madan, et. al.'s brand new dawn 21.10.2020

In which there is 30 years of MMKR discussion, part-discussion of 3 of the 5 shorts that make up the new dawn, some other discussion re. other stuff and the usual best part of the pod - the outro song.

303: Simply SuPerB 01.10.2020

Where there is conversation about who else but the genius that was, SPB, with deviations into random things including Mani Ratnam et. al. Oh, and of course, how could the end credits be anyone else but the man literally describing himself (not really but might as well have been). Thank you, sir, for the music.

302: Stand up for kidnapped crocodiles 19.09.2020

Where the entire pod covers only three or four things (not that focus means better or anything) like the new season of Comicstaan Tamil, some crocodiles / alligators and a bit of Christopher Nalan. One of the panelists happened to see the Will I Am - ARR conversation and so, the end credits song is this version of that Raaja song (still the best part of the pod, of course).

301: Notes from Canada, snacks from? 27.08.2020

Where the season number is new but the content is as random and useless as ever, in spite of broadcasting from a new continent. There is talk of Dhoni and Raina, KB, KD, and other movies etc. so forth, and the like. As usual, the redeeming quality is the ending song that has absolutely nothing whatsoever to do with the episode. (unless of course, you count ARR amongst the listeners).

213: Cancel Eden Gardens 21.07.2020

Where there is talk about cricket in youth days, dadagiri, Jio announcements, Ambani's richness, Sundar's billions, Bachchan's hospitalness amongst other randomness. Oh, and the obligatory GVM mention is, wellofcourse, there.

212: How to unname it 02.07.2020

Where there is talk about how unnaming of names has happened, how almost no one (except one of show hosts) cares, and how the U-turn affected almost no one except news cycles. In addition, there is other random talk about movies and shows that are watched / not watched, other myriad randomness, and, wellofcourse, GVM references, and whatifs. Also some live watching of one world-class mashup video...

211: How to Name It 14.06.2020

Where there is talk of how the TN Govt's renaming strategy has panned out for people, postal employees, and indeed spell checkers. In addition, there is obviously the obligatory GVM mention, some Kamal talk, some corona talk and a lot of nonsense talk. P.S. Since one of the hosts absolutely adamant that there still exists such a thing as Kovai (and even wanted this to be the outro), this is someth...

210: Karthik not calling Karthik ... for now 03.06.2020

Where a 12 minute short film (...for now) is dissected, analyzed, put together, and then analyzed again. Somehow, even corona is slipped in and much generation of other random references happens. Oh, and there is a one-sentence summary to boot. References: The short (for now)  film The interview

209: Necessary sequels, unnecessary episode 19.05.2020

Where the start is not meesic but spoken word. This transcends into sequels that should be made, should not be made, and indeed should never have been made (perhaps like this episode). As ever, the saving grace is the song at the end, which, in a back-to-the-future moment, does a seld-referencial loop to the beginning, ending in, well, a nice earworm if nothing else.

207: Droning on about Vikram 19.04.2020

Where Chiyaan is wished a rather long-winded happy birthday and Alaipayuthey, a considerably shorter happy 20th anniversary. There is some epic conversations about epics and #coronatalk involving drones, carrom boards and the whatnot. If not anything else, as usual, the outro music at least is good (given it is not done by us).

206: Lighting up viruses (this is a louwe service) 06.04.2020

Where GVM makes a rather elongated and unnecessary appearance (much like he does in the movie that we discuss) and then there is #coronatalk. There is the occasional joke, even more occasional good joke, and the usual redeeming outro music.

205: Gokarna, Corona go 26.03.2020

Where there is, what else, viral talking. After nalam has been visarichified, there is delving into global problems with local references, terrible puns, and overall average content. Oh, and if not anything else, the song at the end is uplifting at least.

204: Banking on Viruses 12.03.2020

Where there is coronatalk, GVM talk, lots of other movie talk, yes bank talk and general nonsense talk. The official fan club makes the first (and perhaps only) appearance as well, Extra long episode that is wholly nonsensical and mildly entertaining .

203: Parasitic Marudhanayakam DVD 24.02.2020

Where talking points ranged from parasites to viruses, psychotics and the whatnot. There were also detours into Marudhanayam DVDs via Dubai bus stands culminating in GVM, Nithisms, and  #UmarAkmalQuotes. Oh, and several highly worst sections were deleted.

202: Psychotic budgets 09.02.2020

Unscripted recording was done (when was it ever scripted, you ask?) and topics such as the budget, Chandramukhi, some other movies and of course GVM were covered. Overall blade only, though.

201: Bulletproof Godmen 10.01.2020

More recordings were done with talks about adventist bullets, blue shirted reviewers, Godmen and all in between. Owing to several technical, er, glitches, much editing was attempted and some B-roll is there at the end. Also, post-credits scene is there and post-post credits also.

Seven : Xi-sections 19.10.2019

Where the discussions start with the Indo-China Mamallapuram escapades and spiral very quickly to severe movie discussions. The finish, of course, is, well, Bigil-worthy with the good doctor in abundant reference.

Five : A Mess that is fit for India 02.09.2019

Where the discussions start with some key analytics, move on to a culinary experience in Singapore, wonder about Alex. The discussion then moves on to what/who is Fit for India, and, keeping with the fitness theme, talk about Cecil Wright -- who is retiring anon at the ripe age of 85. There, of course is, the #RaGa news of the week, Trump news of the week, and then finish with Khushboo mistaking t...

Four : Overboard Trailer, Underwater BMW 28.08.2019

Where the discussions start with a live playing of the Ennai Nokki Paayum Thotta trailer (finally!), move on to other recent releases in Nerkonda Paarvai, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, and, of course, Kadaram Kondan. Not-so-smooth transitions into politics (featuring #Raga, of course), business (Ambani & Co.), TV shows, animal welfare, and some automobile news. Here are some handy links: BMW...

Two : Budget Kachoris 11.07.2019

Where there are discussions that are fiscal : both the budget and the GST, with special mentions to school Chemistry and EG Masters. There is also amazement at the MLAs of Karnataka, and speculation about the future of the opposite of Progress. Harris Sir, SA, and Thaenisai appreciation is done, and, of course, there is a Kamal bit with a #obligatory mention of GVM.   Links to some stuff that...
