Reading Through the Bible with Elder Linda

We reviewed all the lesson we have had this far to make sure we all understand the lessons. Reminded everyone that we can divide the bible into three sections as noted by Bible scholars: The history of the Human race (Genesis 1 -11); the history of the chosen race (Genesis 12 - Matthew); and the history of the church (Matthew - Revelation).

We completed our study of the Abrahamic Covenant. We talked about the three things Abraham had to do to solidify the promises and to be a part of this covenant. Discussed Chapter 3 which we read last week. Talked about Adam and Eve's sin and the consequences of the fall: 1. Application for us is that sin has consequences 2. Don't Listen to the lies of the devil 3. Don't try to hide from God, just come clean. God has made provision for your sins (past, present, and future). You are covered by the blood.

We completed Chapter 2. Discussed the delegated authority God gave to Adam to name all the animals. Read a portion of the book, A Letter and a Prayer for Married Couples' discussing the relationship between the man and the woman. We read Chapter 3 but will discuss in detail on the next episode.

We talked about the creation of humans completing Chapter 1. In Chapter 2, we discussed the question, How did Moses know the creation story if he was not there? We discussed the Adamic Covenant. We talked about Adam and Eve being equally given the responsibility to govern the earth.

We also stressed the power of the spoken word and the application to us that our words also have power and we should be watchful of what we say and pray that our words would edify people (build up people and not tear them down).
