Understand The Data Generating Process Behind The Outcomes You Observe 07.10.2022

I caution against the direct one to one use between data that you see and what is really going on behind the scenes with performance metrics. The key is that data generating processes are not always obvious and require a lot of thought. When you see high performance or low performance think about what is going on behind the scenes. Use some judgment to understand the situation.

You have to have faith that you’re doing the right thing 07.10.2022

The most important thing to remember is that you can’t judge yourself based on how other people perceive you. You have to have faith that you’re doing the right thing. As long as what you were doing is a noble and just mission, all of it will work out in the end. And if it doesn’t, at least you know that you did the right thing given where you were at the time.

How To manage an organizational crisis at the University 06.10.2022

I talk about how individuals might be able to manage an organizational crisis at a university. I talk about the importance of owning a crisis and admitting that you do have a crisis at hand, and then excepting it. Once you admit that you have an organizational crisis in your dress and what is going on you’ll have far better and positive outcomes in the long run.

Reduce the number of things that cause Chaos in your life. 06.10.2022

never think that you will be able to gain anything in the short term. You will gain a lot in decades if you just do the simple tried and true. How most people grow is by doing the same boring thing every year. In the short term it never feels like anything is happening. In the long term, it’s almost miraculous. Think about the top performing companies on the stock market. They grow at 10% per year...

The Ideal Boots And Lunchpail Employee 05.10.2022

be the kind of person that is willing to put in the work, be ingenious, and live a happy and healthy life. When you play the long game, you realize that the key is to just do a good job and go home. The rest of it takes care of itself in the long run.

Just don’t give up on yourself 04.10.2022

you’re gonna want to give up. Every day you want to give up. In the moment you might compare yourself to others and feel that you’re somehow behind. You might even compare yourself against who you were yesterday, and you feel like you’re not much further ahead. But that’s what you should not be thinking about. You’re not gonna be that much further than yesterday and other people do not affect you....

Selective science: What is it and what are its impact? 03.10.2022

I define the term selective science, which is where individuals choose features of science to fit their current worldview. Selective science is an interesting phenomenon because individuals pick the elements of science that they prefer, but negate the fact that science has underlying and unifying principles. Navigating one aspect of science generally means that you’re navigating all aspects of sci...

What is the long run mandate of governmental organizations? 01.10.2022

many people don’t understand that organizations have a long run mandate and they have to operate within that mandate no matter how uncomfortable it is for constituents.

Morning rituals are not real. 30.09.2022

Show me a video with someone doing mundane life and I will show you a real video about morning rituals.

Step Into Things That Make You Scared 29.09.2022

I talk about the importance of doing things that make you uncomfortable, and you wouldn’t normally do in public. The more that you do those things the easier it actually gets, and the more normal you actually feel.

Just got to keep trying. It will never happen by itself. 28.09.2022

most important thing you can remember it’s not whether you’re succeeding in any given day, but it’s the fact that you get up and try every day. It’s always a slow painful process, and there’s no direct relationship between what you do in any given day and getting to success. The only relationship I know of is by trying.

It is the mundane actions that actually matter, not the big decisions 27.09.2022

It is never about making large decisions in your life, but choosing to make little mundane actions every day. The more that you repeat these mundane actions, the better off that you can perform.

Protect yourself from the outside world 27.09.2022

overtime you learn to protect yourself from the outside world. You can’t control outside forces, and it’s very often other people are projecting their anxieties and insecurities onto you. However, you can control the walls that you put up in your life. Very often it is better to create a cocoon around yourself, then absorb these outside forces. Creating a barrier allows you to deal with the emotio...

Investing for long-term benefit and forgiveness 26.09.2022

I talk about how you invest for your long-term benefit, but at the same time forgive yourself when you violate rules within these investment plans.

Making investment decisions with luck 26.09.2022

I talk about how there is uncertainty or chance in all of our decisions. Most people interpret this uncertainty in a much different way than scientists interprets uncertainty. If you’re making investment decisions remember that most things are outside of your control, and if something good happens to you recognize that there’s a lot of chance that happens in that outcome. If there’s something bad...

Balancing challenge versus making it easy 25.09.2022

I think we should encourage everybody to be challenged. When you default to making things easy we believe that hardship is something that should not exist. However, hardship almost always builds character and courage.

Have A Reality Check. Look At Things For What They Are 24.09.2022

it’s important to have a reality check everyone’s a while and just look at things for what they actually are. Once you figure out your actual active doing things giving your actual situation then you have a much better idea of where you should be placed in this world.

The difference between real science and pop-culture science 23.09.2022

Real science is a lot more uncertain and probabilistic and pop-culture science. Real science generally does not have a lot of answers, and those answers tend to not be very concrete. Real science is a lot more confusing and focused on the interesting idea, rather than focusing on facts.

When you feel out of sync with the world 22.09.2022

Keep going with the things that make you feel like yourself. If you are sufficiently thinking about the future, you’re always going to be out of sync with the present. This means that there’s many people that won’t recognize your activities, and believe in who you are in the present. However, if you keep taking a steps forward in a systematic the way, overtime you become recognized for the way tha...

Putting a bug in your ear 21.09.2022

I try to tell you that you’re a remarkable person. If I could be the one person that puts a bug in your ear that you’re remarkable, what a wonderful world we will live in.

Evolution And Applications To Management 20.09.2022

I talk about applications him evolutionarily theory to management and human behavior.

I Tried. That Is What Matters 20.09.2022

The reason why I keep doing this reciprocity project is to just keep trying. If there’s one person that’s a loan and if I can make a difference in her life that’s all that matters.

We only have so many theories of the world 18.09.2022

I talk about how much of science arrives upon some consistency of theories and ideas. Despite having vast explorations in many different scientific fields, there’s often consistency among the theories that is striking.

Nobody is coming to the rescue 16.09.2022

No matter how much you want somebody to help you out, you have to realize it’s up to you to keep taking steps forward. Almost everything that is important takes you longer than you ever think, but you just got to keep taking the steps forward. From #weight-loss, to #academics, to #financial wealth, and to building #innovations, the process is always slow. Nothing was ever easier done than said. De...

Let’s move on from Crazy Town. 15.09.2022

I’m done with the collective politicizing and negativities that occurs in the news. Let’s just focus on ourselves and try to do good things with the people around us.
