Punk This Week

We discuss new records from  Sharp Pins ,  HETTA ,  Flippeur ,  Bee Bee Sea ,  the Brokedowns , and  Big Modern . Essential links: Leor Galil’s new...

What’s the wettest you’ve ever been in the audience of an indoor concert? Can you top Nina emptying water out her rain boots in the Empty Bottle bathroom? Thanks to Baby Tyler Band for use of our theme song “ Nee...

All this plus we discuss new ones from Snooper , BB BOMB , Total Con , G.A.Z.E. , NULL , a...

Evan went to Gonerfest and all he got was a sore throat (and, of course, pretty sick...and a bunch of records). Nina saw that huge Turnstile show. In the midst of exciting weekends at the gigs, they recorded this episode of Punk This Week and found themselves exploring a psychological breakdown of all things Kermit. This intro is long; we get to the records around 29-minute mark. Discussed this ti...

Evan gets his ass kicked for his ranking of Kermit the Frog in the greater Muppets universe and then cocoons fully into his stereotype of only talking about Australian punk bands. It’s an episode about new records from Nape Neck , the Prize , Billiam , Deaf Club , GOB , and the Quelques coups d'éclat compilation. Find full show notes on see-saw.fun! Thanks to Baby Tyler Band for use of our theme s...

Did we expect to watch the entire trailer for the Anthony Michael Hall-starring fantasy adventure flop  A Gnome Named Gnorm  when we set out to record this episode? No, but when you’re covering the new one from Gnomocop, you legally have to do the research. The episode also features new records from  Mr. [Redacted] ,  Mar De Árboles ,  Sick Thoughts ,  Ways of Hiding...

Nina recovers from a weekend at Lollapalooza, where she gazed starstruck at Jonathan Davis’ custom H.R. Giger mic stand while chompin’ corn chips in the Korn pit. This entire year except for those two weeks off, punk this week hosts Nina Corcoran and Evan Minsker have podcasted about six new punk records each week. Some of those weeks, we walked away with that sinking feeling: Shit, we missed one . Sometimes the best emo record of the year slips by because there were too many good options that week. Maybe it took months for a demo to find its way to YouTube...

This week, a perfect slice of homemade triple berry pie turns around an arduous moving day, we pay tribute to Ichiro Suzuki’s Baseball Hall of Fame induction and perfect rapport with his dog, and the term “Cocteau Twins cash” is officially coined. We brought the latest from  Golomb ,  Guyscrapers ,  G.I. Bill ,  Lash ,  Light Beams , and  Los Retumbes . Thanks to Baby...

Our hosts ponder if Chester Cheetah has too many snack subsidiaries going at the same time, and then snack talk extends into punk talk with a revelation about Fiddle Faddle product placement. We brought records by  Panic Shack ,  Scud ,  Catchin’ Yetis ,  Visual Learner ,  Jug & the Bugs , and  FRENZY . Also discussed: Michael Stipe (bye!), what’s on the rider for...

What does it mean to build community through a punk rock podcast? It means unintentionally encouraging listeners to show up to see/saw events bearing Frostie. We discussed new records by  Eddy Current Suppression Ring ,  Tunnel Vision ,  Powerplant ,  DÄÄCHT ,  AYUCABA , and  Sluta Ljug . Also discussed: Eddy Current’s non-EP single “ Swimming Hole ,” new albums by&nb...

An innocent conversation about  iced fluffy  and  Frostie Root Beer  leads to a feverish research session about the  Dog N Suds  chain of restaurants, its mascot’s center of gravity, and whether or not our hosts will record a live episode at one of the remaining Dog N Suds locations. This episode—featuring conversations about new records by  Inch ,  Boo/Hiss...

Summer rolls on as the co-hosts of Punk This Week share some thoughts about M3GAN 2.0 and some secondhand family gossip about Michael Stipe allegedly (allegedly!) being rude one time.
