The reason we need to emphasize the proclamation of the cross is because of the power of the cross: :18 “But to us who are being saved it is the power of God”

The cross is central to Christianity. It is the heart of the gospel. Christianity is all about what Jesus did on the cross. It is “the word of the cross”:

Here is a word of exhortation and direction, "Bring forth therefore fruits meet for repentance. Or, "Therefore, because you profess repentance, and attend upon the doctrine and baptism of repentance, evidence that you are true penitents." Repentance is seated in the heart.
