Podlander Drunkcast

Hey y'all, Let's talk about bonnets, baby! We're just tickled to say that Emma Fraser has returned to the show for our discussion of the costumes in Joe Wright's PP (which, let's be honest, is really mostly a discussion of the green dress in Atonement .)  Also, we're so excited to say we're doing a panel at New York Comic Con ! Our panel is Saturday night. If you're vaccinated, we'd love to see yo...

Hey y'all, Maybe you thought we couldn't do an hour-long episode about roughly 39 seconds of a movie. If so... why? We did a whole series of episodes about one single episode of Wishbone.  Anyway, here are our thoughts on the hottest piece of inaccurately-named hand-acting (hacting?), with *invaluable* insights from our special guest, Sarah Marrs of LaineyGossip . Next week: costumes, baybeeeeee!...

Hey y'all, Enclosed please find our rapturous coverage of the second half of this movie, which, as the youths say, SLAPS.  Next week: ALL HANDFLEX ALL THE TIME! Lots of love, Allison, Julie, and Janine

Hey y'all, Enclosed within please find our thoughts on the first half of Joe Wright's 2005 stone-cold classic Pride & Prejudice adaptation. This is a weird episode - we slipped sideways into another universe, maybe? Anyway, hands, they were flexed. Enjoy. Lots o' love, Allison, Julie, and Janine

Hey y'all,   And so begins KEIRAFEST, which is what we're calling our coverage of another formidable PP: Joe Wright's 2005 adaptation, starring Mme. Keira Knightley and Matthew Macfadyen. It's a good 'un. Allison has seen it. Janine has seen it. Julie has not. Sounds like a decent excuse to rip off Julie's podcast Maria, Solved! if ever we heard one.    Lots of love, Julie, Allison, and Janine

Hey y'all,   THEATRE IS A MAGICAL ART FORM THAT WE LOVE DEEPLY, PLEASE SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL THEATRES, also wow, we did not care for this.   Headstrong, we're headstrong, Allison, Julie, and Janine

Hey y'all, Our third and (for now) final episode on Gurinder Chadha's wonderful rom-com (with songs!) lies within. We're joined by a special guest, writer/podcaster  Manish  Mathur! In the episode,  Manish  mentions an article he wrote: that's  10 Essential Films from Indian Cinema , and it's well worth your click. If you want to listen to his delightful podcast about romance in film,  It Pod To B...

Hey y'all, We! Love! This! Movie!  Lots of love, J+A+A PS - No life without wife.

Hey y'all, THIS IS A GOOD MOVIE! THAT IS ABOUT ALL WE HAVE TO SAY BUT WE'RE SAYING IT IN ALL CAPS! Please enjoy the first of three episodes on this total gem. Lots of love, Allison, Julie, and Janine

Hey y'all, Here's our third and final b-road trip episode, in which we discuss the highs, lows, and WHAT THE FUCKs of Men In Kilts and The Wine Show . Mouse Rat rules.  Lots of love, Allison, Julie, and Janine

Hey y'all, Rakes gonna rake. Julie's off for this episode, so Allison and Janine are joined by friend-of-the-show Amelia Buzzell for this chat about the live-streamed performance of Adrian Lukis' one-man show Being Mr. Wickham . Lydia's doing very well, thank you for asking. Lots of love, Allison, Julie, and Janine

Hey y'all, We're joined this week by the GOAT Caroline Bingley and our new favorite dog choreographer, Jeanne Simpson! Jeanne talks to us about her experience on Wishbone, why she loves Jane Austen, and what it's like to choreograph a dance about learning to use the shitter. It's a very special episode. We hope you enjoy listening to our conversation even half as much as we enjoyed having it. You'...

Hey pals, Welcome to part two—part two! of three!—of our miniseries on the Wishbone episode "Furst Impressions." We're joined this week by comedian and actor Danny Jolles (Crazy Ex-Girlfriend), whose first comedy special, 6 Parts, came out at the end of March. It's excellent, and because Danny 's cool as hell, it's also free to everyone on the ol' YouTube . Janine, Julie, and Allison all loved it,...

Hey y'all, And now, our first impression of Wishbone's "Furst Impressions." The first in a three-part series. All on Wishbone's "Furst Impressions." This is not a joke, we really are doing three episodes on "Furst Impressions."  With only slightly further ado, enjoy. The additional ado: you'll hear about this in the episode, but our next PP is Being Mr. Wickham , which you can see via Theatre Roya...

Hey y'all, Herein continues our coverage of the bro-ad trip shows within our purview, Men In Kilts and The Wine Show . As a reminder, last week, we started with MIK, episode one . This week brings our thoughts on The Wine Show 's first episode. Next we jump back onto the Austen beat (what's next? WOULDN'T YOU LIKE TO KNOW) and in the interim we'll binge both these suckers, and then we'll do an epi...

Hey y'all, Herein begins our coverage of the bro-ad trip shows within our purview, Men In Kilts and The Wine Show . Normally this would just be some jokes, but instead, here's a little rundown of how this will work. We're starting with MIK, episode one. Next week you'll hear our thoughts on The Wine Show 's first episode as well. Then we drift back into Austenland for a spell to give us time to bi...

Hey y'all, This is your part two! Hopefully you've JUST listened to DCTP episode 2. If not, we think you'll have fun anyway.  Lots o love, Allison, Julie, and Janine

ENTHUSIASTIC LISTENING SUGGESTION, Y'ALL: We highly recommend that you listen to this episode and the next one, which will post immediately afterward, back-to-back. This one's short-ish, the next one's not. They're of a pair and you'll enjoy both more in sequence. Anyway, here's episode 2 of Death Comes To Pemberley, or the one where Allison tells on herself re: her teeny tiny crushes on Matthew R...

Hey y'all, Another dispatch from the distant past! Please enjoy our Matthew Rhys thirst (Thyrst?). Next week, you're getting TWO episodes—2 and 3 of what we're calling "Dick Tub."   Lots o' love, Allison, Julie, and Janine

Hey y'all, This week we talk to one of our very favorite critics, the great and good Roxana Hadadi (Pajiba, RogerEbert.com, The A.V. Club, etc.). She mounts a spirited defense of goth Darcy! It is a delight! Up next: Death Comes To Pemberley. Lots of love, Allison, Julie, and Janine

Hey y'all, More audio from the recent past that feels like the distant past! We have arrived, at long last, at Pride and Prejudice and Zombies . There's Pride! There's Prejudice! There are, you guessed it, people who eat brains!  Lots of love, Julie, Allison, and Janine

Hey y'all,   More audio from the recent past that feels like the distant past! We have arrived, at long last, at Pride and Prejudice and Zombies. There's Pride! There's Prejudice! There are, you guessed it, people who eat brains!    Lots of love, Julie, Allison, and Janine

Hey y'all,   We're back, for real this time! Time-travel with us to January, when we recorded this episode with friend-of-the-show and costume expert Emma Fraser, who, by virtue of her whole lived life, is actually qualified to weigh in on the quality of Renee Zellweger's accent. It's a gem. Next up: Pride & Prejudice & Zombies & Matt Smith Jumping Really High When He Dances. Next episode coming a...

Hey y'all, Here's part three of our Bridget Jones's Diary extravaganza! At the end of this episode, you'll hear us say that our next episode is Pride & Prejudice & Zombies , but SIKE it's actually a BJD costumes episode. After that, though! Zombies! They're coming to get you, Barbara!  Many thanks to the great Caroline Siede , our guest for this episode. We think it's one of our best, and that's n...

Hey y'all,   Here's part two of our Bridget Jones's Diary extravaganza, The One In Which We Talk About Emergency Fuck Protocols. This is a good movie! We liked talking about it so much that there are two more proper episodes still to come, plus a bonus episode; it is many thousands of words and only about a quarter of them are "fuck."  We hope you had a wonderful holiday/December, and that you're...
