“安史之乱”不仅是唐代的一个转折，而且是中国古代史一个重要的分水岭，其中最为重要的是藩镇割据的出现，隐然牵动了整个中国古代史的发展态势。但是对于这一重大问题，中国学术界缺乏足够的研究。本书处理主题安史之后唐帝国的重建，将西方新史学中的空间观念引入唐史研究领域，极具学术敏锐度，对于此一问题有了极大的推进，也是很吸引人的话题。
