Playmodes

Playmodes

Playmodes is an art research collective. This is its sound experiments repository. We hand-code our digital instruments with open-source tools (Ableton is banned at home). We collaborate with contemporary music interpreters. We compose scores for string quartets, choirs, piano, pipe organs, wind quintets or chamber orchestras. We dig into the data sonification waters, turning stars into music. And above all, we love deep and weird computer music. Check out our complete audiovisual work here: www.playmodes.com

Generative Dodecafonism 20.12.2020

A rendering of a realtime generative system based on the 12 tone row matrix rules developed by the atonal composers after Arnold Schönberg. Developed in MAX/MSP, which sends MIDI signals to sampler libraries. The idea, though, is to sediment this into a readable score and have it interpreted by humans. This composition could go on and on forever, but was stoped after 4minutes of recording.
