Romans 6:15-23

The Apostle Paul says our problems lie, not in our environment, our background, our past failures and sins...or even our future. Our problem is in how we think.

In Romans 6:1,2 the Apostle Paul seems to jump into the middle of a conversation. Where is he going with this? Find out in this conversation answering Paul's question: "What shall we say, then?"

Sometimes things happen in life that changes everything. Your direction...your goals...your perspective...EVERYTHING! The Apostle Paul had that kind of experience. He wrote about it to the church in Rome. It was a "Launching Pad" for the rest of his life.

If you've ever been in a boat on a stream or river you have discovered if you are trying to head upstream, you must keep paddling. If you stop, you don't stay at the same place, you drift backwards. This is true of many things in life. Quit exercising and get out of shape. Quit practicing and your skills deteriorate. Maybe this is especially true in the Christian life. Quit actively work...

REPENT! Wow, what an archaic word. A word that for most brings up negative images of shouting street corner preachers or Bible time prophets in sackcloth and ashes. An yet, in reality, not only is it a common sense term but it is a very positive term when used properly. In this message we will explore what that means.

It would be easy, after walking through the historical record of Nehemiah and coming to understand his enemy is our enemy, to decide that we are up against a losing proposition. How do you ever come out on top with such a formidable enemy? Chapter 7 and 8 helps answer that question.

There are difficult things in life to deal with and Nehemiah has run the gamut. But perhaps, few things are so hard...so hurtful...as betrayal. The word by nature indicates this comes at the hand of a friend...a loved one...someone who promised to be there...maybe even stood beside you at the altar and said it before witnesses. The pain runs deep with betrayal. So, knowing that how should we respo...

How do we respond when the attack i personal. When it's meant to bring us down. Rob our strength. Defeat us. Nehemiah knows exactly what that's like and the Bible has recorded for us what he does about it in chapter 6 of Nehemiah.

Nobody escapes conflict. The majority of us don't enjoy contact. But, if you've lived long enough you realize it is simply part of life. So, the only question is, how do I handle conflict in a positive manner? Or, for the follower of Christ, in a godly manner? This message finds Nehemiah right in the middle of some very serious conflict. How he handles it gives us come very practical ins...

In spite of great progress in a record amount of time...the Israelites find themselves extremely discourage and ready to give up. If the pile of rubble as shrunk considerable their fears and concerns have made it seem much larger than ever. Check out Nehemiah's response to their struggles.
