Paul wrote to the Galatians because there was false teaching that was turning them away from the true gospel. Paul found that he had to defend his authority as an apostle, but then quickly reminded them of the gospel that they received. This is as important for us today as it was for the Galatians then.

Christians should view civil government as a ministry of God. In this podcast we examine how this ministerial role is different than man's legislative role. While God's form of civil government is limited, with separation of powers, and checks and balances, Man's form of civil government is centralized, unlimited, and unchecked. One delivers freedom while the other delivers slavery.

When man sinned in the Garden, he became guilty of breaking the law of God. He is a sinner. The only way to get rid of sin and guilt is through the blood of Jesus. Sinful man however, attempts to rid himself of sin and guilt through other means.

This is the final sermon on the Beatitudes. In this episode, we examine the most mature state of Christ's teaching in this list: one who is able to endure persecution for the sake of Jesus' name. Those who endure to the end, will be blessed, but it requires going through the progression of the Beatitudes.

“Blessed are the Peacemakers for they shall be called sons of God.” Peacemakers are called to enforce the victory of the cross. Peace is not the absence of conflict, it is the total destruction of the enemy.

The imagery revealed in this text is that of the high priest going into the Holy of Holies. He had to be cleansed of his own sins and the sins of the people. This is the only way he could go into the presence of God. We too must be cleansed by the blood of the Lamb in order to come into the presence of God. There is a difference between being meek and being weak. A meek person is the most dangerous person to the enemies of God. Jesus was meek, yet He drove the moneychangers out of the temple with a whip. Moses was the most meek person on earth during his day, yet he stood against Pharaoh and the armies of Egypt. The meek shall inherit the earth.

After recognizing your totally depraved condition before God (poor in spirit), then comes the process of mourning. This mourning is mourning over our sin, and sinfulness. It brings about repentance and comfort.

A repentant nation demands God's word from the pulpit. It demands to be poured into so that National Virtue is poured out to the next generation.

In this chapter, the people desire to have the word of God read to them. This is the nature of revival, the people desire the Word (the Word made flesh is Jesus). When a people desire God and His righteousness, of their own volition, and begin to repent without any prompting, you know you have revival.

Nehemiah only allowed people who could prove their genealogy come in to Jerusalem to live. This is important. Had everyone been allowed in, then there would have inevitably been issues with problematics. Nehemiah had a lot of pressure placed on him to appease the enemy. This pressure also came from those who he didn't consider enemies, but for the sake of getting along, also asked him to give in. Many churches have also been in this position. The demand to appease the enemy is an ever present temptation.

Unfortunately, Nehemiah not only had to deal with outside threats, but he also had to deal with threats within Jerusalem. The church today has to deal with many issues inside the church itself, rarely being able to engage the real enemy that are attacking it on a constant bases.
