Pastor John's Life Change Moments

Religion EN ↓ 83 episodes

The most important decision anyone can make in life is where they are going to spend eternity because all people will spend eternity in one of two places, either in heaven or in hell. Because all sin must be paid for ("For the wages of sin is death, but the gracious gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord" (Romans 6:23, LSB), we all need a Savior. We cannot save ourselves; only God can do that. No magic phrases or baptism can save anybody. Our mission is to bring the word of Jesus Christ to those who do not know Him and to those who feel they are not worthy enough to be considered...

How Is the Best Way to Pray (Part 2 of 2) Recalling the word pray as P-R-A-Y is the easiest way to remember what to include on how to enjoy a more effective prayer life. How Is the Best Way to Pray (Part 1) 13.04.2024

How Is the Best Way to Pray? Before we can answer that question, we must first set the foundation of belief that Jesus Christ is our Lord and Savior by accepting the word of God, the Holy Bible, as the inerrant word of God. If someone does not accept the truth of scripture, God is under no obligation to hear or grant any prayer of an unbeliever. "For the word of God is living and active and sharpe...

If You Die Tonight, Why Would God Let You Into Heaven? 05.04.2024

If you died tonight, why would God let you into Heaven? To answer that question, let's look at two statements that don't make sense to most people: 1: You cannot be GOOD enough to get IN to heaven 2: You can't be BAD enough to stay OUT of heaven. Statement #1 . Our own goodness or righteousness is not good enough or righteous enough to get us into heaven. Neither our goodness nor our righteousness...

If God Is Good, Why Is There Suffering (Part 2) 03.02.2024

If God Is Good, Why Is There Suffering? (Part 2)? In Part 1 of this message, we learned that the first step of interpreting scripture is to read scripture in CONTEXT, not in isolation out of context, which is known as PRE-TEXT. Pre-text is taking a sentence here and there out of Scripture and then trying to expand its meaning to suit the topic being discussed instead of focusing on the totality of...

If God Is Good, Why Is There Suffering? (Part 1) 27.01.2024

If God Is Good, Why Is There Suffering? One of the questions people ask is, "If God is a good God, why am I suffering" or "Why is my wife suffering? What did she do wrong to deserve this," or "What did I do wrong to deserve this? I thought God was a good God."  The World Is Under a Curse The world is under a curse due to sin, which  includes suffering and death (Genesis 3:16-19 NASB), and that inc...

We also found out if the power of other people can make you do things. And we answered the question if a demon can actually live in a Christian or an unbeliever. If you did not hear that message, I encourage yo...

This time of year there's a lot of focus on New Year's Resolutions because most of us would like to have a better year than last year. But why do most New Year's Resolutions never last? Why Say "Beware?" We need to understand what makes resolutions work and what makes resolutions fail. When we depend upon our own power to make New Year's Resolutions work, have you noticed that at some point that p...

How to Get Through the Holidays 27.12.2023

Painful Reminders For some, the Holidays are a painful reminder of the past or maybe something that is going on in life right now. There is a solution. 1 of 3 Stages We are all in one of three stages of life...IN a crisis, coming OUT of a crisis, or about ready to go in TO a crisis that we had no idea was coming. Why Does It Really Matter Jesus Came to Earth 24.12.2023

Why Does It Matter Jesus Came to Earth? It matters because all sin must be paid for, and we are powerless on our own to pay for our own sins. The questions is, who is going to pay for your sin and my sin? Are we going to do it ourselves, or are we going to accept the free gift of salvation from Jesus Christ who died and paid the price for all of the sins of those who have accepted Him as their Lor...

Forgive Us Our Christmases 08.12.2023

Why "Forgive Us Our Christmases?" The title for this message "Forgive Us Our Christmases" came from a sermon of 40 years ago preached by Adrian Rogers. The title probably reminds you, as it does me, of the Lord's Prayer in Matthew 6:9 which contains, "Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us." So why would we also want to also pray "Forgive Us Our Christmases?" All About Me One r...

The Light & Dark Side of Christmas 29.11.2023

The Light & Dark Side of Christmas What is the significance of Christmas? Is Christmas only about the celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ, or is there more to the story?" And is there a dark side to Christmas that we should all be aware of? The answer to THAT question may surprise you. The Light Christmas is the celebration and recognition that God sent Jesus to earth, in human form, born of...

What Does the Word Thanksgiving Really Mean? 23.11.2023

What Thanksgiving Really Means According to the Bible Most people think of Thanksgiving as turkey, football, a day off work, gathering with relatives, and a calendar holiday that shows up once a year in late November. But when you look at Scripture, Thanksgiving is far more than a date. It is more than food. It is more than a season. Biblical thanksgiving is a lifestyle. It is a spiritual postur...

How to Forgive What You Can't Forget (Part 2 of 2) 21.11.2023

On Part 1 of 2 of my podcast, we learned what forgiveness is and what forgiveness is not. Forgiveness is NOT minimizing the seriousness of the offense. Forgiveness is NOT instant restoration of trust. Forgiveness is NOT resuming a relationship without any changes.   "Forgiveness is," as author, David Stark, once wrote, "the release, on the part of the creditor or offended party, of any expectation...
