Jesus took our place on the cross so that our separation from God would be forever ended. He made atonement for our sins and opened a new and life-giving way for us to go right into the presence of God!

We're drawing closer and closer to the cross. Because Jesus endured pain and humiliation, we receive mercy, grace, healing, and so much more from our heavenly Father.

One of the benefits of going through the last few chapters of the Gospel of Mark so slowly is that we're able to see all of the different factors at play in Jesus' arrest and crucifixion. And we see how God is sovereign over each detail. Today, we're focusing on the moment of Jesus' betrayal - when Judas, possessed by Satan, hands over his Lord to be sentenced to death.

As we near the cross in the Gospel Of Mark, Jesus goes into the garden of Gethsemane to pray. He's in agony, knowing that a gruesome death and separation from God the Father is before him. And He went through all of this because of the love He has for each one of us. He offers us new life through his sacrifice on the cross.
