Today we look into the Lord's prayer and consider it as a template for prayer that can be used to guide our thoughts and attitudes as we come before the almighty God.

Is Jesus teaching us to keep our faith in him to ourselves? Or is there more to be considered than just these few verses? We'll consider Daniel's example as we discuss this topic.

The letter of the law is hard enough to obey, but God's standards go far beyond that. Jesus shows us that God is looking at our heart, at our very thoughts and judges by a much higher standard. This is impossible, you say? That's Jesus point! Without him, we can never enter the kingdom of heaven.

Jesus sets out to fulfill all the law and prophets.

Consider the church's role as salt and light in our world in light of the cross and the empty tomb.

Jesus teaches us that it is a blessing to face difficult circumstances, because God will use those to mould us into what he wants us to be. He uses hardships to make us better and he tells us to rejoice and be glad because we will be rewarded later when we get to heaven.

Jesus begins his ministry with an invitation to follow him with very little explanation other than to become Fishers of Men. What a blessing to receive such an invitation from Jesus! But what does it require from me?
