NYAPT TALKS

In Ep. 15 I chat with Matt Schultz, Transportation Director from Hilton CSD. We focus on the deployment of Stop-arm cameras in the district. Leading up to that conversation, we talk breifly about school budget votes, driver shortage and Matt's background as an educator and school building administrator.

In episode 13 I'm joined by Perry Oddi, Director of Transportation for the Laske Shore CSD in Angola NY. Perry has secured 7.9 million in EPA grant funding to procure 20 battery electric school buses. Perry shares his experience to date with his two electric school buses and the District's plans to add 20 additional buses and the infrastructure to support those buses. 

In the final episode from the NYAPT Winter Workshop, I'm joined by Hannah Abdoo. Hannah is a project manager from NYSERDA and was at the workshop to educate attendees on the Bus Incentive Program - NYSBIP - for EV school buses. We had a great chat and I hope this conversation is helpful to many as our industry navigates the path to electrification of school bus fleets.

Ep 12 will have mutiple parts and guests. In part 1 of episode 12 I'm joined by Lori-Ann Savino from the Jericho Union Free School District and Darren Everhart from the Palmyra - Macedon CSD. These two guests are icons in the industry and are just weeks away from wrapping up their careers in pupil transportation. We'll talk about accomplishments and the transition out of their careers. 

This is part 2 of the conversation Dave Christopher and I had with Pete James. We traveled to his office in Mayville NY to chat with Pete about his career and the NYAPT organization. In this episode we're joined by Transportation Supervisor Jerry Ordmandy from the Downsville CSD. Downsville is a 142 sq mi rural district located in the Catskill region of NY. Jerry shares his experience with the deployment of their first EV school bus in the Downsville CSD.

In episode 8 we talk about School Bus Safety Week and EV School Bus deployment wtih Dan Higbie. Dan is the General Manager of STA Mid-City Transit, which serves the Middletown City School District in New York State. 

On this episode Dave Christopher and I extend our wishes for a safe and successful school opening to all of our members across NYS. We also chat about the bus driver shortage, electric school buses and the recent student fatality in Ohio.

In this episode we discuss the Top Transportation Teams Award for departments with fewer than 100 employees that Andrew received from TransFinder at the STN Expo in Reno this past July. We also discuss Andrews creative solutions to the bus driver shortage. Andrew is a relatively new transportation supervisor who shares some great ideas and strong leadership styles.   

In episode 5, NYAPT President Ted Nugent, Executive Director David Christopher and I discuss the Summer conference and provide a wrap-up to that event.
